Last night being under it was a different look, it was almost turquoise, also a specific colour I've never seen before.
No, there was a hail event prior, though I can't seem to find anything about it today, my googlefu is off. We bought in April 2014, & they mentioned to us that the siding and roof weren't that old, had been replaced due to a hailstorm & damage. So there was something prior to 2014, but perhaps not to the extent of 2014 & 2020.

No offence taken

This the internet.

This is way more likely then a roof membrane failure. Happens quite often during and after major hail storms.
The point was, the 70s has nothing to do with it.

I guess they do have fines for stopping on major roadways during hazardous conditions.

$162 fine and 3 demerit points.

Was supposed to fly out to Victoria for a 2 day getaway with the wife tomorrow.

Saturday morning, my original flight was cancelled. No problem, was rebooked on an earlier flight. That flight was just cancelled, I'm sure because of last night's storm.

No flights available today or tomorrow. Can't speak to anyone on the phone as the queue is full. Can't speak to anyone online as the queue is full. Brutal.

Not nearly high enough, and never enforced (partly because the police are busy dealing with an assortment of issues when these storms happen). Absolutely ridiculous behaviour.

It is pathetic that police have to remind people not to stop and block lanes in the middle of major, high speed highways.

Looking at google maps, its clear that B pier has a different roofing system than most of the rest of the airport.

Almost certainly has been inspected along the way many times, but it's still an old roof.

That section appears to have mechanical penthouses as well, so there are large sections of roofing to wall connections (could be subject to failure?)

You can actually see roof maintenance being done on that roof on whatever day the overhead photos were taken - is there a way to tell?

After looking at the house in the daylight it's a lot more damaged than I thought, especially the back. Looks like we'll be doing a full replacement, and I'd love to get rid of this stupid ####ing vinyl for something like hardie board. Even if it's an extra $10-20k it seems like a solid investment with climate change not slowing down anytime soon

We've had two hail and one lightning claim in our 27 years in Calgary. First hail claim was a partial siding replacement (one side of the house only). We've had zero issues with TD Melloche, they have been excellent to deal with.

We must have a full report on my desk by 9 am tomorrow with the entire history of Terminal B's roof design, maintenance and inspections. Now that we here at CP essentially resolved the water pipe issue we must get to the bottom of this roof leak at the airport for the good of the nation.

Plus it would give you a distinct advantage in repelling Drive-By Gangsters when society inevitably descends into a Post-Apocalyptic Hell.

Yeah, I switched to hardie board after the 2020 storm and am very happy with that decision. Walking my dog tonight, I see lots of damage on the vinyl houses, while the hardie board seems to have stood up.

Plus it looks much nicer!

And, most importantly, figure out who is to blame.

Not sure how we expect police to enforce cars stopping in underpasses during storms. Police pulling over and getting out of their cars in that situation would just make things worse and more dangerous.

We went with Hardie board when we redid our siding. It's been worth every penny. This stuff laughs at hail. Sounds pretty insane inside of the house, though.

LP siding is a good choice as well(and looks better than Hardie, IMHO). I do wonder why we use so much vinyl in Calgary. Well, cost I guess. But still. It sucks.
