The Lightning found a way to make it happen. Lots of time between now and next season.

Why would they need to break his legs? He's allergic to hockey equipment.

Well if this is a healthy Monahan, than I guess you buy him out this summer as its unlikely there's another viable trade option to create 4 million in cap space.

Has nobody else been watching Monahan play this year? I recommend tracking him in the next game you watch. Johnny has been getting credit for adding a defensive element to his game, but Monahan has added more than Johnny.
If he can maintain that and bring back his scoring, he will be a very valuable player. Just not valuabe right now as he sorts it all out.
Time to get him a RW to go with Dube.

Unfortunately, the narrative has set. Monahans a washed up nobody who only ever rode Johnnys coat tails.
To heck with logic and reason.
I still can't believe Love poisoned the well and got away with it.

Monahan is in a contract year next season. He's not going to sit on LTIR all year just so the Flames can fit everyone else in under the cap lol

I love Monahan, and he is playing better defense. Unfortunately his shot tho is very diminished (wrist surgeries most likely). It's unfortunate, but he is definitely not who he use to be and having his money on the 3rd line is not great.

Kane is a grown man. A hard nosed coach isn’t going to change his character. Hard pass. Watch Carolina take him.

Yeah, they took Tony D and that has worked out great for them so far.

Tarasenko had only played 24 games last season and 10 the year before. He was viewed by a lot of people as broken.

What would honestly be the return for a team to take on Evander Kane at this point? San Jose would have to give a team some sweetener for them to take him off their hands even if they retain salary. For most teams I would think it would take at least a 1st round pick… maybe even more. And San Jose desperately needs those first round picks so it would be crazy for them to trade any of those just to get rid of Kane… wouldn’t they?

Evander Kane is poison at this point, no one is trading for him no matter the sweetener.

I don’t see it. To my eyes he’s the worst forward on his line right now and he’s playing with Pitlick. Monahan is draining production from his line mates, not the other way around.

You underestimate the Oilers if they had the cap space.

I don’t see it with Monahan either. His 5v5 shot volume per 60, shooting percentage, and point production have all continued to decline this year. This is now a 4 year trend.
His ice time is down, and Sutter doesn’t trust him on the PK. Not ideal for a 3rd line Center and results in Lindholm having to play there. He’s managed to maintain roughly neutral possession stats, but he’s still lagging the team average in that regard.
It’d be awesome if he could restore some of his former glory, but he’s clearly lost a step, can’t generate offence when playing with lesser players, and has seemingly lost the shot that drove higher finishing percentages.

Big difference between the two players.
You can argue that Bennett never received a proper shot.
Monny did and was productive until injuries brought him down. Taking him out of the top 6 seems to have rejuvenated the Flames offence.
Poster want to trade him as he's not worth his cap him, so trading him for better cheaper players is a good idea, but likely unrealistic.

Honestly though Tony D and Kane aren't even close to the same level of poison.
Tony D is a jerk that has bad political takes.
Kane is a gambling addict that appears to be a P.O.S to his family, while also faking his Vaccine records.
