This is a laugher now, but man does Loup suck. I really hope we pick up a lefty on the waiver trade route before September.

Jays win 15-8. I love a good pitchers duel.

Barney is having a 3.3 WAR season (if extrapolated over 162 games, currently 1.8 in 88 games) which is very, very good. Especially for his role.
But you seem like a numbers type guy, and not a feel type guy. And the numbers show, in every single way, that Travis has to be the starting 2B no matter what. Having the luxury of a 3.3 WAR player on the bench is a fantastic thing, and a great insurance policy.
You feel that Travis' defence doesn't make up for his bat, but the numbers tell a different story. WAR isn't an exact science, but as far as baseball goes it's as close as it comes to a perfect all encompassing measure of a players value (position players more so, pitchers WAR is imperfect science IMO).

Yeah I know what the numbers say, but Travis' D scares me. It didn't for the most of the year, but it has the past few weeks. Big scores cover up poor D, but when we we are in one of our offensive ruts, 1 run can really screw us.

Now on to watching the Cheaters to the East of us get pounded. I feel as dirty cheering for Edmonton as I do cheering for Kansas.

I imagine Ryan Goins will get more time when the rosters expand, and he better be on the post season roster.

I hope not. He has no business playing over Travis or Barney. Will definitely be on the expanded roster but he if he's doing more than pinch running, it will be because someone is hurt.

Yeah why do you need Goins when you have Barney as your utility infielder and capable bat?

I confess to not watching nearly as much baseball this year but isnt Goins the best of the three defensively?

Right but the team already has Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin, Tulo, Martin, Travis, Upton, Saunders. I'm not saying start Ryan, but don't you want the defensive specialist to come off the bench in the post season for Travis?

Barney can do that. He is really almost as good as Goins defensively.

Because you need bats off the bench too. Barney can be both.

I'd like to issue a quick reminder here... Darwin Barney has a Gold Glove to his name. Ryan Goins shouldn't sniff any playing time ever.
