I have success with the Flames if I set the strategies to be more aggressive than the default.

And what's with only an 85 for O?? That's bottom 10 in the league, even Edmonton's ranked better than that! You can tell the game's made in Vancouver. Just started a franchise mode with the Flames, I think Unky Darryl's gonna be busy lightin up the phones..

I'm in my third season, current lineup
Brunnstrom - Toews - Iginla
Stafford - Cammy - Okposo
Bourque - Lombardi - Glencross
Chucko - Ullstrom (draft) - Nystrom
Regehr - Phaneuf
Vlasic - Ritchie (draft)
Barta (draft) - Giordano
Irving
Turco
I just make trades for the hell of it. Of course, I ship out draft picks and prospects like it was going out of style.

Did a fantasy draft and only took players on entry level contracts. I'm a ways in now but this is how my team looks:
Van Riemsdyk (93) - Tavares (96) - Okposo (92)
Pacioretty (90) - Turris (93) - Grabner (87)
McGinn (87) - Matthias (89) - Spaling (88)
Cechmanek (draft) (87) - R. O'Reilly (88) - Valiequette (don't know where he can from) (88)
Hedman (91) - Doughty (94)
Pietragenlo (91) - Franson (88)
Parent (88) - Myers (87)
Ward (93)
Enroth (89)
We are like the Canadiens from back in the day. Although we have an E grade for toughness.

How do you save the jersey code once it is entered?
I entered it awhile ago but I need to enter every time I turn on my PS3.
I only ever play online, so I never save my game, but how do I save the settings so that it keeps the jersey code in?

This is a great post to see how the main prospects will develop with time.
It you alter any of their stats, or is that how the game has them?

Not stats altered. I have noticed there will be some variation based on where they play during their development. My suggestion is to give prospects increased ice time after each year. Hedman was stuck in the AHL due to the strength of my team for the longest time. In other franchise modes he has developed into a 95. Here he had his development ######ed. I pushed Turris to the left wing of the first line to make way for Tavares early in the franchise, to make sure that Tavares developed fully. The bottom two lines have been bottom line guys for 5 years thus they are also ######ed.

What do you think is better for development
1st line, 1pp, 1pk in AHL?
or 4th NHL
Guessing AHL obviously, most of my young guys are 80-84 from AHL time

More playing time = better development. Of course, build up your assistant coaches, that helps the development as well.
Sitting on the 4th line in the pros won't develop squat, they're better off in the minors. Of course, my first year I forced Backlund up into 2nd line duty and after the season he had improved to about an 84 I think.

I find the best way to play with friends is just like they're aimed to play in real life. Defense first. They aren't going to outrun or outskill the opposition. So you're going to have to be playing a patient game and work on not giving the other team solid chances, while making use of the puck possession when your in the attack zone. Really look to work around the zone and try to open up the slot if you can, otherwise the point may be open up and you can create some good rebound chances, deflections, or just flat out screen goals.
Basically, you have to play smart and systematic with them. It works since I'm in the top 100.

I didn't have any problems. One thing I have become used to doing though is setting the offensive settings higher and often pulling in a defenseman for additional pressure.
And because everybody else is doing it (First season. I hate you final exams)
Bourque - Langkow - Iginla
Dawes - Jokinen - Setoguchi (I know his family, so I have a soft spot for him)
Glencross - Conroy - Sjostrom
Nystrom - Prust - Chucko
McGrattan
Phaneuf - Regehr
Bouwmeester - Weber
Giordano - Pardy
Johnson
Kiprusoff
McE
*I did lower Iginla's stats below Ovechkin's (IIRC I set him to something like 90 overall), and Bourque's are slightly higher (81 overall because whoever makes this game doesn't realize that he's not on par with other 25-30 goal scorers)

Or you just go balls out. Use Bouwmeester and Phaneuf to lead attacks and have a constant hard forecheck. Works for me.

I traded Moss and a 2nd in one of the season's I had and he was great until I traded Regehr and 1st to Columbus for Nash then Frolov went down to the 2nd line and he didn't play all that good the rest of the season I let him go as an FA

What if you won the Cup after trading Iginla for a 5th Round Draft?

Prob just depends on the style you play with. I'm all about the high speed, quick passing type plays. I just don't know what to do with Calgary. I've just noticed that speed is sooo important in this game, more than it probably is in real life. For example, in '09 I dropped Bourque because his speed made him utterly useless, and picked up frickin Antoine Vermette, which drastically improved my 2nd line.
Although maybe i just need to find a different style of play that fits the slow-ass Flames more. I just need to get used to em...and the game in general. Only been playin it for a week or so, man am I terrible! It's quite a bit different from '09.

Got Lombo back I see. Ya he was beauty for me in '09. I always put him out on the PK, he's so quick he'd blow by the pinching D and score all the time. I actually liked being on PK because of that. That's why I say speed is sooo important in this game(more than it should be), and why I'm struggling with Calgary. I can't believe how slow their forwards are.
Agreed with whoever said the Flames D is awesome to use though, I love dishin out the hits. I know the opposing winger is trying to bait my D into leaving his position and come after him in the corner so he can pass it to the centre all alone in front, but I can't help myself. Those hits are too satisfying to pass up.

Yeah, I brought him back in the offseason. Speed kills in this game.
Made a few trades to upgrade that particular part:
Semin - Toews - Iginla
Kessel - Cammy - Brunnstrom
Stafford - Lombardi - Bourque
I can't believe the computer gave me an 80 Chucko for Semin straight up. Gotta love it.
Rest of the lineup is the same. For my D men that I've drafted, no one has less than 90 checking. The computer just walks into the tunnel of death for everyone, it's awesome.
