Holy that was f'ing exciting! I loved how every time the CBC commentator guy doubted Whitfield saying he was falling out of it he came roaring back.
I was yelling at him to ditch the cap and to skip the water and he did!!

That was incredibly exciting! I was hoping that he could hold off the German, but a fantastic race nonetheless!!

That was incredible to watch.
Boy Whitfield makes us Canadians proud.
2 Olympic medals, 8 years apart, in one of the most physically demanding sports there is.

Yeah, that was great. Looked like he was out of it, then he looked like he might win, then ended up second.
Great, great performance. Awesome ending.

Whoever this dink analyst for triathlon is needs to never call another race for CBC. Whitfield was supposedly out of it 5 times from the run, even though the clock showed him back 5 seconds at the most.
Idiot was fawning over the Spanish like he had a crush on them that they were pulling away 4 times in the last 3 km, and then finished 4th and 5th. Twice he was too busy talking about them as they got passed by the German and the New Zealander.
My cat was more observant then this guy on what was going on.
Edit: To finish it off, this dumbass just said the guy that finished third was "happy" he didn't have to take silver again? WTF? Happier to finish 3rd?
Great race by Simon.

I just heard his voice and it sounded Orange Julius free, but you never know what those s at CBC are wasting our money on these days.

Great run by Whitfield! Pretty exciting to watch. Looked like he wasn't going to have enough in the tank, but he dug deep and got the silver.

I know we have a couple golds but that was my favorite performance by a Canadian athlete so far in these Olympics!! Wow, what a race by Simon! When Whitfield was in 4th and about 15 meters behind, to see him throw his cap off and say it's showtime and then sprint to the lead with 250 M left was flat out awesome. That guy has incredible heart. The German deserved the gold with a great run but Whitfield has shown again why he is one of the best in the sport. Great job getting a silver Simon(and adding it to your previous gold). That was very exciting to watch! Awesome!!!

Amen.
Kept mentioning how Simon Whitfield looked off and uncomfortable, and everytime the lead pack moved ahead Whitfield was done. Talk about annoying.
I loved the strategy by Whitfield, just hung around at the back of the lead pack. When the leaders pulled away he kept them in sights, and when the push was over, he'd slowly reel them in. And by doing so, he never exhausted himself trying to make a break, and was able to sprint away from 3rd and 4th at the end.

So where were the Ethiopians and Kenyans in THAT race, eh?
I understand several of them had never seen that much fresh water in their lives and ended up drowning from drinking it too much, while the lone racer that managed to get through the water portion was mistaken for a replacement bike spoke and ended up going in circles for the rest of the race.
Seriously though, awesome race!! WELL DONE WHITFIELD!!!

Wonder what might have been if Whitfield had gone with the break-away bike group. Would've had a 45 second lead to start the run if he could've drafted behind those two bikers and kept up with them. Strategic error that cost him gold, or would it have taken too much out of him? Not trying to be controversial, just asking. Not a triathlon buff.

I am soooo mad I didn't watch the end of the triathlon over my lunch break! I saw a bit of the run but didn't see Whitfield in the pack so I assumed he was way behind. Arggh! I remember watching him win gold in Sydney, my favourite summer performance by a Canadian in the Olympics!
I should have watched that, I had to watch that Aussie chick win the women's triathlon yesterday at lunch after all.

Earlier in this thread I said that it seems that when Canada needs to Man-up and really pull it off they usually fall by the waste side and end up happy with "fourth".
Watching Whitfield roar back after being out of it, and then take off his cap and sprint home was truly amazing, I was off of my couch, jumping, screaming at the TV "dig you son of a b*tch", I wanted him to hold off for Gold, but watching him win Silver there was inspiring, I am so proud to be Canadian right now

Huge run by Whitfield! Take that 4th place.
Recognition to the Canadian equestrian team winning the silver, despite not having a drop score.
Eric Lamaze in the individual equestrian on Thursday should be a medal favorite.

Yay Whitfield.
My Gosh that was awesome. All of us at home at sitting there screaming at the TV, GO, GO, it was such a great finish. I thought he had gold for sure, but the silver was great, after such an amazing finish.
