I've noticed a few 'Musical' picks have come from IMDB 'music' classification. It would be tough to disallow them now I would imagine. Personally I've got no problem with it.
In this case I would like to change Almost Famous to the Musical category

Ah, good point. Does anyone have a problem if we officially state that movies classified with 'music' as their genre on IMDB can also be used in the 'musical' category? I'll leave it to the commish to make any sort of final ruling on it.
With our 6th round selection Yippie-Kay-Yay is happy to select a movie that spans MANY genres. (Animation | Action | Adventure | Crime | Fantasy | Horror | Sci-Fi | Thriller)
For now in the Animation category we select the super awesome Canadian masterpiece: Heavy Metal
Movie trailer
Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian animated film from executive producer Leonard Mogel, with Ivan Reitman producing and Gerald Potterton directing, the work flow was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments.
The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film has an unusual amount of bloody violence, nudity and sexuality for an animated film.
(sorry, I'm still in the other post where everyone thinks i'm a bad person)
Sheesh...changing the rules again?
I think if you're picking for a musical category, it should be a musical like Wizard of Oz or something like that, not a movie about music. The point of this game was to do research on movies to fill a certain category, not continually broadening the category to make things easier.

I respect your opinion but I thought the point of this game was about having fun. Why does everything have to become so difficult? Moreover, GirlySports came up with this idea and has spent a lot of time running it for our enjoyment and as the commish makes the decisions.
A movie with the Music genre tag on IMDB obviously has music as a main theme of the movie. What's wrong with using that as the measuring stick?
Whatever, like I said, this should be about fun and not an exercise in proving how good your research is. Maybe, that's just me.
edit: And looking over the picks does anybody not agree that "Pink Floyd: The Wall" and "Purple Rain" have music as a main theme of them and as such better belong in some sort of music or musical category?
Anyways, I just picked up a couple oldies to watch, 12 Angry Men and Vertigo. Looking forward to being impressed...
This post was from 08-05. What did you think of these movies?
I've been catching a lot of Picked movies on AMC (channel 47 on Shaw in Calgary) recently. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was just on last night and again this morning. Superb! Later is the first of the trilogy, followed by The Usual Suspects, and Apollo 13.
I didn't have time to go through 30 pages... sorry folk...
In the WILD CARD catagory, another potential fata, GOOD WILL HUNTING.
Good Will Hunting hasn't been picked yet(good pick btw), but just go through the draft board on the first page of this thread to find out what has been picked.
We need a central list of movies that have been picked which are going to be on TV. Here's a list of movies that have been picked so far that are appearing on TCM or AMC in the next month. If one of your movies is appearing on a different channel and I've missed it, let me know and I'll include it, and update it weekly.

I've only had enought time to jump on here for like 5-10 mins at a time, and I didn't want to hold things up...
I almost watched the first overall pick last night on American Movie Classics. It was set to run from 9:30 PM til 1:30 AM. I gave up!

Honestly, watching that movie on tv doesn't do it justice, all the good stuff cut out of it and all the commercials. You have to watch it right, no interruptions and in widescreen with good soundsaround.
