Terrible move by Clayton on the winning play to run into CF on what was clearly Wells ball the whole way. Anybody who's played baseball knows that it becomes about twice as hard to make a play like that with a fielder rushing towards you at the same time you are trying to dive for a ball. he had to half dive to avoid Clayton, causing him to come up short.
Stay on the bench Royce, you suck.

yeah, I thought Clayton screwed that play up as well. Too bad. A well pitched game, terrific put out and tag from Rios and Zaun. Frankie, save #500 for Seattle on Friday when I'm in attendance.

Nice comeback win tonight for the Jays. Anytime Josh towers pithches and you don't lose it's a bonus. Although, Towers actually did pitch okay, and was pretty good in the last 3 1/3 innings.

Not often you can win a game where you commit 4 errors like the Jays did tonight either. Amazing what a little bit of timely hitting can do though.

been making a lot of errors of late, and haven't really been punished for it to this point. might want to address that before it costs the jays more. tighten up on d.

Yeah on the broadcast last night they mention a weird stat where the Twins have the 2nd least errors in the AL while the Jays have among the most - yet the Twins have given up more unearned runs. Weird.
I guess the Jays are making errors, but the pitchers are picking their teammates up.

Well errors are a thing where timing affects the stat more than anything. Making one error with 2 out and men on base will likely kill you more than making 2 errors in different innings with 1 out and no one on base. Although over the course of a 162 game season I'd expect the number of errors vs the number of unearned runs to start co-relating to each other. At game 77 not as much. Although it is an interesting stat, and the type of quirky thing that has always drawn my interest to the game of baseball.

Frank Thomas just hit a 3 run homer, his 500th career if I am correct. Congrats Frank!

Ok, I just got the tail end of this on the radio...but....did I hear correctly that Burnett (I think that's who it was; whoever is pitching) got pulled and then proceeded to stomp off or something as well as "rip his jersey off and throw it into the stands"?
Did I hear that right...?

From TSN.ca:
"With Minnesota trailing 5-3, Jason Tyner and Bartlett opened the fifth inning with singles to finish Burnett. The Jays pitcher threw his glove into the crowd and ripped off his jersey after being pulled. "
Also Gibbons and Hurt were ejected in the 9th for arguing balls and strikes.

Not a lot of discussion about it on bluejayway - perhaps it wasn't a big deal? I didn't see it.

Nice to see they're pissed off when they lose. A 2-2 series split in Minnesota can be seen as good but they're not happy with that.
Good attitude for the rest of the season

just got back from Seattle, finally got to see the Jays play in person. Also enjoyed the Red Sox game Wednesday, 40,000 + for a 1pm start, how could you tell the Sox were in town? A thrilling 11th inning victory for the Mariners with Ichiro stealing the show (man, is he good!) Daisuke gets a no decision in a game that was well pitched (he struck out Ichiro twice, which is pretty rare, but also gave up a hit to him).
The Jays played pretty poorly last night, but only lost by two. The two runs in the first should never have happened, one bad play on a ball and a bad bounce that proved to be the difference. Nice stadium, got to see the roof open last night. Tons of Jay fans there of course, but not as many as there were Red Sox fans Wednesday.
If you haven't yet made a baseball trip there it's well worth it.

Don't know if anyone else watched tonight's game, but wow, Ichiro Suzuki is one impressive ballplayer. What a throw when Wells tagged and ran from 3rd. Beat him by a mile, but the slide was good and Johjima couldn't hang onto the ball. He was all over the field the two games I got to watch live this week and was always in the mix, making great catches and getting timely hits. I've always had a soft spot for the M's, nice to see them doing well.
Doc looked ordinary tonight, Seattle has now won 7 in a row.

Blue Jays just looked lost over the last couple games. SEattle is playing great baseball right now. But the Jays should have had many more runs last night. They had guys 2 guys on base with 1 out multiple times last night. They seem incapable of pushing the runners to 2nd and 3rd without hitting into a double play.
Booked a trip to Toronto for August Long!! Super stoked, got tix. to the Rangers and Yankees games. Super stoked!!

Burnett back on the DL. Going to see Dr. James Andrews - the Jays "not sure what's wrong".
Not good.

I still have no idea why Gibbons feels the need to pump an injury-prone pitcher out there for 120+ pitch outings on a consistent basis. For those familar with Baseball Prospectus, Burnett was third in the league in pitcher abuse points (PAP) before going to the DL the first time.
I'm growing more and more tired with Gibbons' act as this season goes on. Today doesn't help either. Bases loaded, 1 out, with a 1-0 lead in the 7th and they let Royce Clayton bat with Troy Glaus available as a pinch-hitter. Quick double play and Seattle still has a chance.
