I didn't mind him posting the odd poll or Natpo article (although posting a new poll every day while not in an election cycle is annoying), but his response to someone's rebuttal was always "let's see what they voters think" or some stupid ####.

That's actually quite surprising to me that people think it's so more toxic in the F&I forum vs. the political threads in Off Topic Forum. I find it about the same as it always has been in the F&I forums. People are happy when the team does well, they're frustrated when they don't.

I guess maybe because at the end of the day, no matter how toxic someone giving a sports opinion is, sports doesn't really matter as it's meant to be entertainment. It's like getting upset at someone's take on a movie or a TV show. If someone has a real negative take on the Flames, or is being confrontational, I just ignore the take and move on.

Most posters are guilty of the occasional driveby. But I can't think of anyone who posts 100% low quality drivel.

Text is a good mod. I yelled at him and he didn't infraction me, so I appreciate his restraint.

You have to be able to determine a fair line that isn't based on personal preference/grievances, nor political allegiances. It's when it's to the detriment of the quality of experience here seems like the appropriate time to bring the hammer out.

Navigating that through COVID and Oiler trolling seasons must've been challenging for the forum sheriffs.

Yoho walked that line where he spread misinformation in threads but didn't engage enough in order to be deemed a disturbance worthy of being outlawed. Looks like he got away from that and it finally cost him.

I scroll past re-tweets and rage-posts in the political forums (which is why I didn’t take much notice of Yoho’s posts).

I follow political and social issues, but I don’t follow day-to-day politics or the latest outrage on social media. I honestly don’t know who most of the people cited in the political threads are.

I just googled Corey Morgan. Looks like he’s a columnist or something with the Western Standard. I’ve never read the Western Standard.

We should have a monthly "voting off the island" poll where a user gets a temporary ban for a given period of time (maybe permanent ban.) We can privately nominate users and the top five nominees every month get put up for the ban poll.

I think the people defending him have missed the point. People weren't upset with Yoho because he had differing views, there are plenty of posters here that align with him politically and nobody is calling for them to be banned. The difference with Yoho is he was a troll, plain and simple. It became clearer and clearer the more targeted it became. If certain posters posted, he would post something he knew would rile them up. If there was follow-up, it would be with something specific just to dig at them.

-Spam twitter links, often unrelated to the current topic

-Intentionally post nonsense and ignore facts just to frustrate people

then either

(a)follow it up with an insult

or

(b)Play the victim when it's mission accomplished and people get annoyed

This time he made it personal but other than that, this has been his game for a very long time

I understand some posters just don't like seeing someone targeted the way yoho started to be, and I definitely get that to a point, the fact that this thread even exists is proof of that. To me it just shows how effective his trolljob was and how long he was allowed to get away with it

It'd be different if he was actually discussing his views, but it was clearly all a schtick just to piss people off. Others will defend him just because they also dislike the people he was trolling and pissing off. No comment there.

I also have little patience for uninformed, ignorant anti-vaxxers who think they know science better than the scientists who dedicate their lives to the subject and the subsequent research and technologies they produce. Yoho was one of those clowns.

Maybe Yoho never really bothered me, as I took him for what he was, and anytime I engaged it was not to change his mind but ensure others saw through the BS.

I want to be clear, "he never really bothered me" is aside from the posts that ultimately, and correctly got him banned. He went from troll posting asinine stuff, to horrendous for his attacks on other posters. 1,000% should have been banned for those posts.

This does however leave me with one question... what are the current polling numbers for the CPC? Like, how will I ever find out that information without his daily update?

People rejecting science for anecdotal evidence makes it feel like humanity is intent on regressing to the old days of stoning witches.
