I actually would have greatly enjoyed the Gender non-conforming people doing awful things thread to have stayed open. I could have spammed this thread daily with articles about he evils and abuses of religion, and in a year we could have compared the 1000s of terrible things I found about religion to the 1-2 bad trans people others managed to find. It might have been stark to any right thinking person, alas I doubt those enraged about evil trans people are right thinking enough to see the distinction.

Anti-LGBTQ hate speech isn’t that rare. Even just the casual, thoughtless kind born from ignorance or thinking it’s funny. Happens even here and ranks somewhere less important to the mods than swearing or telling someone off, which is wild but not my business lol.
Not everyone has the guts to change, apologize, and even stand up for the people they used to say terrible things about. Most are cowards who would rather just continue on being bigots, run away or lash out when they get called out, or crack jokes and mock people pointing a finger at them.
Regardless of their history, the former gets a ton of respect from me. The latter might as well be dirt.

Well no, I'd call them transphobic, which that language absolutely is. I'd hope 15-20 years later that person would have changed and apologized for it. And I would hope the culture in general wouldn't accept it. Thankfully both of those things happened.
