They did.
Scoring chances were 39-19.
High Danger was 19-7.
But Flames let the Oilers stars build confidence in the comeback and it carried through the series. Flames also adjusted to try to stop the oilers stars and all it did was take them off their own game.
Of course the difference here is the Flames didn’t have a Mackinnon or a Makar.
But unless the Avs get better goaltending it might not matter. We all like to make fun of Mike Smith, but his career .927 save percentage in the playoffs is great and he’s proven he can bounce back from poor efforts.

I love how the Oiler fans have been harping on Flames fans all week about how the goal was no goal and learn to read the rules!
Shoes on the other foot and they're all crying its the league wanting Colorado to win and this was a "interpretation" of the rule.

I'm pretty confident the Avs have a 10 or 11 goal game in them this series. Would love to see it.

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy the Oilers got screwed, however I think Makar is just insanely lucky he didn't touch the puck. I don't think that was intentional at all.
They got the call right by the letter of the rule, but that really doesn't feel like what the spirit of the rule is. It was the right call on a technicality, but I have a hard time not believing he didn’t intend to have possession or attempted possession.
If this had happened to the Flames we'd be livid right now.

I think the Flames adjusted too late. I hate the idea of playing your top line vs McDavid. You need your best defensive players out vs McDavid… he can be slowed down and for the Flames when they finally adjusted and played Backlund or occasionally Jarnkrok against him, he wasn’t dominating play as much. The Flames probably should have won games 4 and 5. Playing the top line vs McDavid is what leads to this feeling of teams trading haymakers because it allows their best guys to go unchallenged defensively, which is exactly the game the Oilers want.
The Kings did it right, they just didn’t have the guns to take advantage when they could get chances.

Not me
The league justifies it, it makes sense, and they won’t be deleting all of their relevant examples
Good call, and correct

Makar said it was intentional in his post game interview. Knew he needed to push the puck in to give Nichushkin time to get onside.

Really you need to game plan for 2 matchups based on ice time they get
But guys like MacKinnon or Crosby head to head with McD is not that bad at all

Bill Burr on Jimmy Kimmel tonight dumping on NBA game management by refs. Like the same story with where NHL are going.

I feel the section about "attempting possession" means this should have been offside.

who cares what he did 10 years ago? .907 in round two, .800 tonight
Only Oiler media would add playoff numbers with the Yotes from 10 years ago to make him look good

I hate that we have to wait a year for play off hockey. A year is a long time.
