The ironic part of course is you could have kept Brady for the same cap hit as Jimmy G and had Kraft just increase the under the table payments and you'd be way better off. I'd rather have Brissett than Jimmy G.

I think this will end up being one the of the better signings, good value at a position of need.

Judon is a good add. It's so strange to see the Patriots so active throwing money around in free agency. I still don't like their chances of making much noise with Newton at QB.

I think the biggest shocker about the Patriots splurging right now is they are costing themselves comp pick value for next year. Imagine they only get one sixth round comp? Unfathomable.

On yesterday's episode of "The Salary Cap Isn't Real" (how did we all miss this by the way?):

I'm sad to see Linsley gone as I don't have a lot of faith in Jenkins, but for that money I'm not surprised.

This sucks for Agholor. I really like Agholor but he has been stuck on some teams that haven't allowed him to shine.

Haha exactly. Just Loomis manipulating the cap to make it work, I doubt he'll even be the starter, but who's knows.

Losing Sanders, Kwon and especially Janoris Jenkins all hurt..but that's essentially the extent of the bloodletting from what people have been saying for years would eventually bite the Saints - and even that is only because the cap is over $30M lower than expected, from Covid. Main, primary core still completely intact (granted, they need a QB).

Still though, that's a black hole at CB2, and they have no room in UFA. I guess draft high on a corner? That could be ugly opposite Lattimore next year..

EDIT: and there's your QB - Jameis Winston signs 1 year deal with Saints for up to $12 million

He clearly took the money here so I wouldn't feel too bad for him. I know the Raiders were interested in bringing him back but at not more than $8 million a season and this contract blows that out of the water. I'm skeptical things will work out great in NE with the QB's on the roster but I can't fault a guy for taking the money.

Yeah, get the money now...than go sign with a contender on the cheap if you're still healthy enough to play. Better to withdraw money from your stacked bank account than be the guy hawking your Superbowl ring for food when you're 60.

Dude can't catch the ball consistently enough. Has nothing to do with the teams he's been on.

Washington signing Fitzmagic, which should probably lock up the all time different teams started for record at nine now. That probably takes one team out of Deshaun contention.

The Bears going from maybe Russ to signing Andy Dalton is so perfect it's basically guaranteed to happen.

With adding Hunter Henry are the Patriots trying to make up for years of playing it smart in FA in a single year?

Given the last foray into two Patriots TEs at a high level, the obvious question is who is the murderer out of Henry or Smith? I mean you gotta figure the guy named Hunter is the choice, but who knows?

It kind of makes sense as with Cam at QB they are going to run the ball a lot and pass out of run formations.
