Ah so that explains the Oilers.

He's been good but he doesn't play super tough minutes. He still has a ways to go before catching Hamonic, Hanifin, and Brodie.

It's weird not being afraid every time there's a shot on Smith.

He's really turned his season around. Looks like a different goalie.

I second this. Add a sharks ATL section. Lots of salt surely with them trying to usurp us and the flames always a step ahead.

1)You gain momentum by above average execution and compete level resulting in a goal( ES, PP or PK), big hit , a big blocked shot, big save and the rare big win in a fight.

2)You lose momentum by below average execution and compete level resulting in poor special teams, a bad goalie goal against, a lost battle.

3) you maintain momentum by doing all the little aspects of the game well, including hard compete, solid goaltending , blocking shots and being disciplined in your approach.

Not sure all that has been what happened tonight, but in general I believe those are the keys.

Hopefully it's like the opposite of last season. Great start then went downhill after getting injured. This season he had a bad start, but now hopefully is back on track.

Aside from the odd five hole he's been solid. Rebounds really well too when before he'd let in a succession of goals.

Man, the Flames' forecheck is just relentless. It's a beautiful thing to watch.
