The trouble with James Neal is Frolik doesn't have his ceiling, and there is no up-and-comer to take away his ice time and breathe down his neck.

So you've still got only Hathaway below him, and maybe constant scratch Czarnik to take his time away.

Neal has already got paid and is unlikely to get another NHL contract. Not sure if that reduces his give a #### meter but that is a fact.

Neal will continue to get the icetime, it is too big of a miss by Flames management to give up yet. He will get the rest of the year and playoffs to figure it out.
