Damien Cox @DamoSpin
If Jankowski were to go UFA on Aug. 15, wouldn't have same number of suitors as Vesey. Probably smarter to sign now.

I think Cox has slowly gained a couple sources, he used to just regurgitate stuff, now he seems to produce original material or even break news once in a while.

I'm not sure this is as big of a deal as this website is making this out to be. It's not like I would be in favour of losing him, but I'm not sure it's worth any hysteria either.

With the amount of time we've all spent arguing back and forth about him for the last four years, not getting to see him play a game for us would be a collosal injustice.

Never mind players like this don't grow on trees

How big a deal is this website making it? This is a forum, and there's a thread discussing it. That's hysteria?

He would be a big, solid addition that plays with a style (and a great attitude to boot) we need to have more of on this team. I bet if he watched tonight's game, and read this thread he'd be pretty happy to sign.

Yeah maybe not hysteria, I didn't like using the word the first time either, but definitely there's more concern than I thought there would be. The last two pages are filled with quotes of what I'm interpreting as concern.

Are you new here? There is constant concern in just about every thread about every topic by a good 20% of the people here.

Yep honestly it's a win/win situation. If he signs then great if not we get a great draft pick.

There was definitely some hysteria in the last 10 pages of comments.

Again, feels like if you think that's hysteria, you don't pay a lot of attention to the way things generally work around here. There are a good 15% of the people who post here who live in a perpetual state of mild-panic about almost everything Flames related. The handful of people in this thread who seem overly worried (and again, the word hysteria was used) are also chronically worried about the state of the rebuild, how our draft position will slip, how our prospects won't pan out... the list goes on and on with those people.

When someone says

it's worth noting most people on this forum seem fairly even keel about it, and the same percentage who are worried and pessimistic are that way with regard to a multitude of topics.

I don't think it really matters the number of suitors he will have and more how bad some of the few suitors will want him as I'm sure the Canucks will be all in on him and when you look at their young talent they could use him more than most teams.

yeah I'm sure there are plenty of teams that would be willing to add a young, big, skilled, 2-way center fresh out of college with championship pedigree to their prospect base. There may not be teams lining up to give him NHL time, but I can't see why any team wouldn't want him on their depth chart.

I'm kinda curious what they are haggling on. Not much wiggle room on an ELC.
