Long term I still think Hamilton was the exact player the Flames should have targeted.

Just that right now he is not justifying that pay hike. Nor is he playing like the same player he was in Boston.

I don't think Hamilton is phoning it in or doesn't care, he's a 22 year old defenseman that needs to be taught to pick his spots better. He's not a top pairing guy yet.

The reputation the Flames had of allowing their D to jump into the rush frequently doesn't help either. It's almost as if they prioritize that more than taking care of their own end.
