Stro is out of the 6th. Not a bad job.

I don't normally pick on Gibbons, but this game he's managed badly. He was lucky to get outta it.

I'd totally keep him another inning. That was a great inning.

1 strikeout, 11 base runners (10h, 1bb) and lots of hard hit outs. This was a bad outing given the importance of the game. Jays offense bailed him out.

So you want to let a good hitting team go up there against a game they've had 3 looks at this game already? Do some research of the 4th time through the order penalty - its a very real and scary thing when your managers plays around with it.
If anything, the fact that KC is hitting means you go to the pen to play it safe.

I've got more faith in what Stro showed in the 6th than 3 innings of the bullpen.

I was talking about the 6th inning, not the entire game. I agree he hasn't looked great.

I'd go with this explanation. Just shows Gibby's lack of trust with the bullpen on lefty on lefty matchups since Cecil got hurt (also the reason why he used Price in Game 4 of the ALDS).

Defence bailing Gibbons out. As Manager, you have essentially one job to do - manage the bullpen. He hasn't done that today. His bad decision simply hasn't yet resulted in a terrible outcome. Should've been out awhile back.

Stro is done. Not a great day, but the offense bailed him out and he left with the lead. Could have been worse, I guess.

1K for Stroman? Furthers my argument that he stank today. Really got lucky.

I get that, but if you want to play the numbers game the 4th time through the order penalty is way worse. Especially given that Stroman wasn't on today and has gotten slapped around today.
Then you go to one of your better guys in Sanchez with games in three straight days.

Except Sanchez' splits, specially with lefties, isn't confidence inspiring. He just doesn't have the weapon yet to get lefties out on a consistent basis. What if he gets knocked around too? The numbers are there and it is something that Sanchez has to work in the offseason.

I get that - I just wouldn't go to Sanchez. The Jays other relievers don't have even splits but they aren't all as one-sided as Sanchez. A rightie reliever is going to have to face some lefties at some point this postseason - give someone like Hendricks a chance and see what happens.

I hear ya' on this one...heck, if I was managing, I'd even give Tapera a shot (good #s with lefties, albeit Small Sample Size)...but i'm not...and from what I've seen of Gibby, if he doesn't trust you, he will be anxious to put you in the game. He's a "guts" manager. That's either good or bad IMO.
edit* Sal Perez has elite pitch framing ability. Wow. This guy has stolen a bunch of balls already for the Royals and turned it into gold.

I'd give Sanchez 2 outs this upcoming inning, then give another guy a try at finishing the game. Gotta give Sanchez a break.
