Unfortunately I do.. And always end up with loose change and stuff like that in my pockets. Small rocks that looked neat, bits of string, pretty much what you'd expect to find in your sons pockets after picking him up from kindergarten. When I had my 5S it went without a case (otter box defender) for about three days and ended up with a scratched screen.

That's rough. The 128 gig was available for reservation/pickup on day 1. I nearly spent the extra $100 just to not wait the 4 weeks.

Ouch, last time I spoke to iPhix they didn't have iPhone 6 parts in yet.
And the price they're quoting on their website is... $409

Jesus. Suddenly very pleased I went with AppleCare this time. I know with each generation they get harder and harder to open and tinker with, but that's wild.

Does AppleCare cover drops/accidents on mobile devices now? I've never had AppleCare on any of my Apple gadgets. My only experience with it was watching the "genius" explain to a girl that her laptop appeared to have been sat on (shattered screen) and AppleCare doesn't cover that kind of thing.
But that was probably 4-5 years ago, so it's possible they've gotten a little friendlier if you've purchased the AppleCare.

AppleCare has gotten better and worse in equal measure. Gone are the days where a cracked screen resulted in a no-questions-asked new phone. Apparently that privilege was abused one too many times. Now what it does (in addition to standard support) is allow you to have the phone fixed for cheaper. It gives you two instances of accidental damage repair for $80. Not really a superb deal, but a reasonable one.

Fixed for cheaper is how much cheaper exactly? It sounds like that screen repair and accidental damage repair are two separate things.

As far as I know they're under the same umbrella. Where are you seeing otherwise?

Just my comprehension of your post. Never experienced the older policy of AppleCare+ so when you say it's no longer a no-questions-asked exchange versus now, what is it exactly that they're no longer doing?
Edit: Maybe gears are starting to click. Sounds like they would exchange cracked iPhones straight out without using the 2x accidental coverage?

3 years ago you would bring your cracked screen in, and they would just replace your phone with a new one. Cost was $80. So if I had a 22 month old phone with some wear and the battery wasn't 100%, for $80 I could get a brand new phone.
Today you bring in your cracked screen, they send it off for repair. Cost is still $80. They give you a loaner and you get your phone back in 2 weeks.
Other thing worth noting, I was impressed last week that Apple had a repair policy in place for my 2+ year old iPhone 5 to fix the lock button. However to qualify my phone had to pass other tests such as other buttons working, good battery, etc.

Essentially what Ken said, but in many cases it would be even more awesome and they wouldn't make you pay at all. I know a guy who managed to get 3 new phones for nothing over a 2 year span (1 battery and 2 screen breaks). The Apple employees used to have incredible control over ensuring your happiness.
When I took my phone in last year to get a battery issue diagnosed the guy was apologetic and told me "had this been a few years ago I would have just given you a new one".

Having lots of problems the past week with calls on my phone, people not being able to hear me at all, or sometimes I can't hear them.
Tried rebooting, it's up to date, and the microphone seems to work fine in other apps. Guess I'll have to schedule an appointment

I just got my phone last Friday after waiting for a month. I ordered through Worldlynx and got a sweet deal through my wife's work. Made the move from Telus to Bell and went from the 4s 16gb to the 6 64gb and loving it so far. I had filled up my last phone and it was struggling performance wise so the change was needed. Glad I held off from getting the 5s.
Took some heat from a few buddies for sticking with Apple but after the first few days with the phone I love it

Let us know the verdict. I've been noticing something similar lately too. It only started after iOS 8.2 update. 8.0 and 8.1 were fine for me. Using the headphones or a bluetooth headset seems to be somewhat ok though. However, the headphones have a little bit of static when the jack is spun while plugged in.
Another odd bug is that sometimes the sound won't come back after flicking the vibrate button. Have to reset or reopen the movie, file etc. whatever.
Other than that, I love this phone. My GF using the OPO is jealous of it. I may have to trade with her...

Given that my cracked screen repair was $100 on the 4S, and 6/Plus users are looking at $400+ for a repair, $80 is downright reasonable.

Keep in mind that first repair is really $180; with $100 paid upfront when you buy the phone. That being said I did get Apple Care on my 6; it's just important to keep it in perspective.

I just ordered a 6 without applecare. I figured I have 60 days to think about it, so no rush.

You'll probably be fine with a good case. I don't have applecare either. I abused my iphone 4 with a case and I never damaged it, even though it was one of the most fragile of the iphones.
Amazon.ca has a good selection of cases. Quite a few have free shipping as well and should arrive within a week.

I thought it was a year?
On a similar note, I just ordered a 6. Any suggestions on a case? I'm using a lifeproof on my 4s. Love the protection but the headphone jack dongle drives me up the wall.

This is the case I'm using. Seller is in Winnipeg so I had the case within days.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/280991668917
I bought 3 cases off eBay and this was the best of the 3. One didn't really fit the phone, and another didn't allow the buttons to work very well. The above case is slim so it only offers limited protection. However my phone lives in a belt clip do I just need minimal protection.
