At the start of last nights game, i was a bit concerned for the Heat. No Billins, no Berra. Ortio seemed nervous on the 2 goals but he came through afterwards. i think it was just a matter of calming down. Can't say enough about some of the forwards like Jones. On the back end, with no Billins, i felt Ramage and Cundari really stepped up. The shootout was heart warming.
Breen and Sieloff hurt as well.
A very young team with a very young defense - yet injuries aren't an excuse
In the same vein, it seems Roman Horak has been added to the Flames Roster on the website. He was not there this morning. Nothing on the AHL transaction page. http://flames.nhl.com/club/roster.htm
Ah, that roster has been wonky a few times. He was taken off after he was sent down last. The I saw Billins on, him off. Then Berra on, him on and MacDonald on.
The Flames do only have 22 players on the roster so it's plausible he's on. Although I would have thought Hanowski got the call since he was held out of the game last night.
When Hanowski was scratched yesterday, I checked the roster to see if they had room for him, and that's when I noticed Horak was listed. Then the Heat played and Horak was in the lineup, so I knew something was off.

Still, Flames have 22 active and I don't think Gio, Stemps or Breen are close so someone should be getting a call. Keep looking on the AHL site to see if anyone was added.
Speaking of which, anyone have a good resource explaining AHL roster rules? Heat have 3 goalies now. Can we keep all 3 and have Ortio and Brossoit sharing time like the original plan was?
I don't believe there are any roster size limits in the AHL. You're limited as to how many veteran players you can dress in one game, but I think you can carry as many players as you're willing to pay for.
AFAIK, Brossoit is still in Alaska (he got a shutout last night, and they play again today), so the Heat still only have 2 goalies with the MacDonald/Berra swap.

Brossoit has been perfect in Alaska so far actually.
He has 2 starts and 1 relief appearance and have not allowed a goal. He has faced 40 shots in 126 minutes of playing time. And of course 2 shutouts.
Ortio also had 2 shutouts in his Alaska stint.
The Aces are 7-1 to start the year and Sivak who was in Abbotsford's camp is leading the ECHL with 18 points in 8 games, 6 points ahead of 2nd place.
