I enjoy the political stuff with Lee though, and Callie hasn't ever looked that hot, she was pretty smoking at times in that episode.
I guess she wanted to look good as she took her final bow.

I think the series is back on track after a lot of buildup in the first two episodes. Watching the episode on the train last night coming home from work I let go a very audible "Holy &%$#". That's only happened on the train during episodes of the Wire, and me cracking up listening to the Ricky Gervais podcasts.

I finally caught up to everyone else. I was watching season 3 over again. I know there was some criticism about S3, but I think I enjoyed that season more than any other.

Season 4 to me seems like a totally different monster. So much has changed from the final episode in S3 to the first episode in S4. And I didn't think the S3 finale was cheesy at all. I quite enjoyed it.

S4 has got to be the most depressing so far. So much pain and suffering for individual characters, the characters that we have watched for 3 seasons.

I'm enjoying Lee standing up to the President. His idealistic views are something that I believe in as well. I'm beginning to dislike the President as she takes a hard line against "the people" even though we know it is for the good of the survival of humanity.

The cylon infighting is another amazing concept. Throughout the series we were told by six and others that the cylons were God's perfect children, and now look at what they have become. The same as humans. We've already seen cylons taking sides, and i'm sure we'll see more of this as now one group has basically committed genocide in trying to rid 3 other models. That and the fact that the others believe the final five are with the humans. To ultimately unify everyone, they will have to unify themselves with humanity and the final five.

How did Tory become this giant bitch all of a sudden. Enders looks like he's handling it alright, Tigh is just seeing things, and Chief had a bit of a spaz, but all those guys seem to have some emotion left and something to hold on to in humanity (although, perhaps not anymore for Chief). Tory looks like she flipped the switch off, or had a much easier time with her emotions. Enough of an easy time to throw Cali out the air lock. And now we have 2 cylon/human babies. Wonder what Chief will do when he finds out Troy killed his wife...

The whole starbuck thing is setting up for something big. Half of the main characters are with her. Perhaps the two separate groups can both find earth. A dying leader will lead the humans to earth. And a living/dead kara thrace is chosen by the one true God to lead others down a different path to earth for a vital reason.

Make no mistake, the starbuck angle will become more important in weeks to come.

Also, does anyone know if we are getting the whole season this year, or is it being split into two 10 episode features again?

I think they're doing the two 10-episode mini-seasons again, but frankly, they should just get it over with already. This series has really gone downhill since Exodus Part 2.

Crap...so we have to wait another bloody year to see the final 10 episodes.

I came across this blog and thought it summed up the first 5 episodes pretty well"

"But, as mentioned above, I think the structure of this season is intentional. The growing frustration of the show’s audience (“When is this going to GO anywhere?”) is meant to mirror the growing frustration of the crew, increasingly at the end of their tethers, whether it’s because they’re out in space searching for something that may not exist with a seemingly crazy person in command or forcing themselves to confront their newly revealed Cylon natures or trying to start a new religion that will, in a way, absolve them of their former guilt."

http://mattzollerseitz.blogspot.com/...sode-five.html

I think we all certainly get the sense from this season that things are unraveling at the seams. All I can do is hope that they know how to solve the problem, and when we come away from season 4 with the conclusion, it will have been worth it and will all make sense.

Now is the mini seasons deal planned, or did it end up as a result of the Writers Strike?

I understood that it was more or less planned so that Sci-Fi could get 5 "seasons" of the show at the cost of four. I'm sure the creators are just as upset at the potential for this to happen as we are.

I thought this week's was a great episode and the stuff with Starbuck that I labelled as crap is definitely now paying off - I should have known that it would but oh well.

can't wait for dianna to be back! man, what is she going to say when she sees enders? or tigh? hah!

knew they had to bring dianna back. she was so great, and evidently they had a plan for her all along.

i've watched all the episodes this season. I have them all PVR'd so when the first 10 are over, i'll watch them again. With a week in between each episode it's kind of tough to remember what is going on exactly. I know what the deal is, but it's a lot easier to get a feel for the season when you watch them all within a relativley short time period.

I've enjoyed this season so far, but it is a very different animal from previous seasons. So much dispair and emotion. I love D'anna and I am so happy they brought her back. Adds such a great element to the story. Can wait for the half season finale.

The whole Roslin needs to love someone is an interesting thought. I guess looking back through out the series, all shes done is work at trying to find the way back to earth. That's all any of them have done really. but her especially.

Next weeks episode looks unreal.

I really enjoyed the last episode - the best of the season IMO. Those scenes w/ Roslin and Baltar were awesome. Baltar is the man, lol. Things are going to get pretty interesting in the next episode, to be sure.

I have a feeling we'll see Lee remain President even after Laura returns. For one, I don't think her and Adama could continue any kind of relationship w/ her as President and he as Admiral, and she is the most likely to give up her title / power.

Also I think Lee is the final cylon.

There are really only so many characters that make sense to be the last one: Dualla, Gaeta, and Lee have to be the most likely candidates. Starbuck can't possibly be the final cylon, nor Baltar, Adama, or Laura. Characters like Zarek, Romo, Racetrack, and other secondary characters just don't really make a lot of sense.

I admit it would be difficult to explain away Lee's childhood, etc. since Adama was a part of that, but it could be possible that the human Lee was replaced by a Cylon Lee at some point in his military career. They've been setting Lee up for something big the whole season and won't be the least bit surprised if it turns out to be him.

Can't wait to see next week's ep!

I don't believe that the final cylon will be one of the major characters, that would be way too easy. I did laugh at Deanna's cylon shot at the president.

I expect that the final cylon will be a minor character like Dualla (sp?) or Guaeta (worse sp)

I'd like to see Zarek as the final cylon myself.

I think if Lee is the final cylon then they're going to have to reveal that awfully soon and then spend the last half season explaining why that isn't the worst shocking twist in the history of television. Gaeta, Zarik and Doc Kottle are currently my prime suspects.

Anyways last episode had a piece of music during the battle that they hadn't played before. Which is probably the first new song since All Along the Watchtower. Although the quality of the score was one of the things that really stood out for me when I started watching the show, hearing the bagpipes swell any time you have both Adamas in the same room has been getting a little tired. And along that vein, does anyone know when/why they dropped the single note Cylon Theme? Seems like ages since I've heard that.

That was my guess too but the Zarik angle is interesting. Hadn't considered that one yet.

I'll preface this by saying the most recent episode was one of the best this season, and it's a step back in the right direction for the series...

However, when people like me criticize how bad BSG has gotten lately, this episode is a perfect example. The writers have gone completely off the rails, and the show has lost its internal consistency.

In an episode last season, Helo committed treason by sabotaging a plan approved by Adm. Adama and President Roslin because he thought it was a war crime equivalent to Cylon genocide. Yet in this episode, he has no moral qualms about participating in a mission to destroy the Resurrection Hub, which amounts to the same thing. Furthermore, Helo then plays a key role in Roslin's plan to backstab the Cylon collaborators and break their deal, using the excuse, "I'm just following my orders."

have the final 5 (or any skin-job) always been Cylons or were they switched during the New Caprica occupation? Tigh fought in the original Cylon war, did he not? We were led to believe that the technology for 'skin-jobs' is a relatively new development for Cylons - one that was developed during the Armistice.

Anyways, Lee was never on New Caprica; neither was Dualla, Helo, Adama

Sure they were, before the Cylon occupation. Lee nailed Starbuck in the fields, Dualla and Helo were both on the planet pre occupation, and Adama spent his time lying in the grass with the president talking about building a retirement home.

Don't know how they're going to get around Tigh being a skin job at his age, but it sounds like they're fairly old as they've been to earth and back.
