My favourite tournament starts tomorrow.

Men's qualifying at Roland Garros.

http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/sc.../qs/index.html

Vasek Pospisil is the #2 seed. He plays french wildcard Johan-Sébastien Tatlot in the 1st round.

Frank Dancevic is in Pospisil's section and plays Adrian Menendez-Maceiras of Spain in the first round.

Pospisil and Dancevic could meet in the 3rd and final round on Friday.

Steven Diez is in section 11 and plays #11 Dennis Kudla of the US.
Peter Polansky is also in section 11 and play Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev .

If both Diez and Polansky win, they will meet in round two.

Please for the love of god let Djoker make the final so that this tourney isn't just another Globetrotters (Rafa) vs Generals (rest of the world) like the past 2 months on clay have been. I mean if you're a Nadal fan great, but if you're not, there is no more tedious, drama-less part of the ATP sched than clay season. I don't even know why anyone not from Mallorca bothers to show up.

Got a new Rafa hat today in Madrid, hopefully I get to see him at his best at the French. If anything I have an RF hat in reserve

Both Pospisil and Dancevic have won in round 2!

They will play each other tomorrow for a spot in the main draw. This ensures that one of them will join Raonic and Levine. I believe also there have been 3 withdrawls so there will be 3 lucky loser spots

Hmm I wonder if we'll get to a point where Canadian mens tennis surpasses US on the tour...or has that already happened?

Nope it hasn't. Depends how we define success. Yes Raonic is ranked higher than any American, but there are 18 Americans in the top 200 compared to only 3 Canadians.

Don't forget the Bryans! They dominate doubles as Nestor is starting to fall off a bit

My eyes are on Nadal. He's been tremendous leading up to RG.

On the Canadian front, I'm curious how Raonic will do without having a fulltime coach hired yet. Who will be sitting in his box? Ljubicic? Gilbert?

Nice effort by Milos in the first round to move on.

I saw that Ljubicic is with him again and practicing with him. It's likely only a matter of time before he's announced as his fulltime coach.

I'm not really a big fan of him ditching Blanco and ending up with Ljubicic. No accomplishments as a coach, he hasn't done jack as a coach with Berdych, he was 6th before he took him on and is still 6th... also he's an ethnic Bosnian and you can bet he'll be working on winning Milos over for their national team...

edit Milos' family is from Montenegro so false alarm. That's a decade of cheering for the Canadian national soccer team paranoia right there.

Monfils beating Berdych was very entertaining. Monfils served like a manic, only broken once the entire match.

Levine got crushed by Nishikori, no surprise.

Pospisil vs Zeballos tomorrow.

Raonic vs Llodra and BOUCHARD VS SHARAPOVA on Wednesday.

Hope Milos can keep it together, on paper he should be playing Ferrer in round 4 but he seems to trip up regularly when the seas part like this for him with the draw. Llodra has never really been a great clay player and he is clearly on the decline but will be tough with the home crowd cheering for him.

Ferrer has got a dirt rat on a roll in round 2, some spanish guy who just won at Nice. Now that Berdych is out if someone can knock Ferrer off that whole quarter is wide open. Raonic, Almagro and Ferrer are the only top 20 guys in the quarter.
