Unlike the NHL though, I believe both teams share the same charter plane in the WHL, which could get interesting in a heated series.

Rattie was drafted 32 overall. The Flames picked at 45th overall and 57th overall. Not sure what your point is?
May have been valid to say that if he was still on the board and the Flames choose someone else over him.

Had a brainfart. For some reason I forgot about our two second round picks last year even though Wotherspoon is one of them . More annoyed that we didn't have our own (Saad) or one in this upcoming draft.
Also, I haven't been able to watch any games. Is Sven still playing really well and his points are just regressing towards the mean (hard to keep a 2.0 ppg) or has he actually slowed down?

Does anyone know what the ticket prices for the finals are in Rexall? I'm trying to figure out if I should go to both games 1 and 2, or just one of them.

I think it's a little too early to call Wotherspoon a bad pick at that spot. In The Hockey News mock draft he was expected to go at #44. NHL Central Scouting had him at #50, while some mock drafts had him going in the low-100's (#110 and #108). The Flames took him at #57.
I have no doubt he's going to be a project, but right now he's progressing nicely.

Oh, not a knock on Wotherspoon. More the fact that his name is in this thread multiple times and I forgot he was picked last year. Hopefully he can at make the club one day, still very early

I'm just throwing this out there but, do you guys think the Blues might be interested in Jay Bouwmeester for Rattie? Might be a long shot.

We need to shore up our defence. Look at the successful teams in the west. St Louis, LA, Phoenix Nashville. All defensively sound teams. If we deal Bouw for Ty, we lose defence big time. The only reason we should deal Bouw is to land some more defencemen or defensively minded forwards. Rattie falls into neither of those categories.

Good story. Also explains why this series isn't a 2-3-2 format either.
Kind of funny talking about the "big market" Oil Kings against Flin Flon back in the day. As soon as the Oilers and the WHA arrived, the Oil Kings went from large market to no market at all. Their crowds dwindled into the hundreds - a fate that befell the Wranglers down here when the Flames arrived.
Amazing to see what the rapid inflation of NHL tickets did to the viability of the WHL in these cities.

Predictions? Oil Kings in six games and it's on to the Memorial Cup.

It should be a good series.
The Winterhawks scored the most goals in the league during the regular season and Edmonton scored the second most. Edmonton also allowed the second fewest goals against.
So far in the playoffs, Brossoit has only allowed 21 goals against. Rattie (17) and Baertschi (7) alone have scored a combined 24 goals (Ross has another 12).
Brossoit is going to have to be close to perfect for the Oil Kings to shut down the Winterhawks' offence.
I'm going to pick the Winterhawks in 6. Either way, the series MVP will be a Flames draft pick.

Right now, I don't see the games in my Shaw box guide. Does it take a while for Shaw to update their channel schedule?

Not sure Brossoit has to be "perfect". The Oil Kings have one of the most stacked D in the league. They'll still have their hands full against Baertschi/Noebels/Rattie though, but if Brossoit lets in the occasional softy, they'll be fine.
I think the Oil Kings are set. They have the better goalie by far, the better D, and a fairly comparable offense. Baertschi and Rattie will take them to the wall in 6-7 games though.
