Do you need resos for the piano bar or just show up? Does it run all day and night?

I don't know if they are needed, but you'd be hard pressed to get a seat if you didn't make reservations.

I just remembered, I know a girl from Lethbridge who has gone to Vegas a couple of times and performed at the piano bar at NYNY with another feller from Lethbridge.

Last Tuesday when I was there it was very busy, but no lineup. Friday we sat outside it was even busier and there was a small lineup. Just depends what night you go and how early you get there. One side of the bar had tables that you could pay $15 I think it was to sit down. Needless to say, the non-paying side was packed and the paying side was not as much.
Doesn't go all day, not sure what time it starts up, but it's in the evening sometime.

Anyone have experience with recovering Nevada tax from gambling winnings?
I am in Calgary and am wondering if there's someone to contact here to help me recover the 30% they soaked me for on a $3,000 jackpot.

Anyone ever booked some sort of VIP package in Vegas. My wife and I are planning to go down for our anniversary and would love to get a different experience then usual. I have no idea what we would like to do but was hoping for some ideas. Maybe limo service, exotic car rentals, bottle service, spa, restaurants etc.
Trying to actually force my self to open the purse strings a bit for once in my life so I could be enticed into actually wasting some money.
Any thoughts?

Those kind of packages vary wildly in terms of what you are getting.
Even bottle service means totally different things at different clubs. At some places, it's just a table with an overpriced bottle of liquer. Other places provide you with a server and your own small section.
I wouldn't buy a package without doing a lot of research or getting a solid recommendation.
Las Vegas is still hurting. If you're looking for something "exclusive" you can pay throught the teeth for that. You and the lady should be able to get free deals, like free well drinks at most places these days.

Is it better to wait till you get to Vegas and see what the hotel has available? Do the hotels have these kind of services?
For us it isnt really about getting the free drinks (although they don't hurt), it is more about the experience. There is a lot of crap out there, so I have no idea what to expect of these services.
We have only been to Vegas one time so really it can feel overwhelming with all that you can do, but like anything it is easy to get screwed when you don't know what is going on.
I just don't want to wait in lines, pamper the Mrs, and generally have a good time.

That sounds just terrible.
EDIT: And being alone in Vegas is awesome. Just wander the streets and yabber at people until you find a crowd to go boozing with.

Staying at Luxor for that first night then Mandalay for 3 nights.
What is there to do that first Saturday when I show up at 10PM. I assume everyone will be in bed by that time. How weird is it to be alone in Vegas? Will I be shunned?

Peelers.
Although you should be able to take male children there to teach them life lessons and how to be a man, the bouncers won't let you.
It might also be a usefull place to take female children to show them just how low their lives will get if they don't focus on their studies, date less than desirable guys, and/or get tattoos. Once again, the bouncers won't let you do that either.
I'd advise going before the family shows up.

If your kids are into sports, Strip is a good place to practice keeping your chin up.
Lots of inappropriate pictures strewn around the strip sidewalks, inappropriate atleast for kids.

It depends how old your kids are, or what they like to do. They might like the M&M store, exhibits like the Titanic one in Mandalay, there's some kids stuff to do at Excalibur like arcade games and such. They may just like walking through some of the hotels or hanging out in the pool. If you're staying at Mandalay the lazy river thing there you can tube down is pretty cool.

Grab a cocktail, pull up to a table with a chatty dealer (I find roulette to be a good paced chat/play type game) and you'll do great...
oh wait, this is for Fotze? Ok for you, get yourself nice & liquored up on the plane, when you arrive hop in the first cab you can grab and have them take you to Bellagio fountains. Find the first street bar/patio you can, order 5 shots of jack, slam all 5 shots back, then in your drunken stooper go wait for the fountain shows to start (they really are quite impressive). In the middle of the show as you take in the absurdity of watching water being shot 200 feet into the air while standing in the desert you will take your wallet/keys/cellphone and throw them directly into the fountains, they you run like hell.
We call that doing Vegas on hardcore mode. Good luck and god speed.

Admittedly everything after the wallet toss is kind of a "choose your own adventure" kinda thing, so really wherever the night takes you.
Naa in all honesty if you're arrive at 10:00pm on a Saturday you'll have no problem amusing yourself. Just wondering the casino floors is enough to take up a day there. Personally I really liked the NYNY & Paris gaming floors for just wandering around, Caesars was nice too. Although we did most of our actual gambling at Monte Carlo (liked the dealers)... but I've heard NYNY/Monte Carlo are under construction right now.
Wasn't much of a fan of Luxor or Excalibur, MGM was ok, but really preferred NYNY, just didn't seem as "loud" as the rest of Vegas, little more low key.
