In never said I didn't enjoy the show, I think it's a great show. Several people thought the last episode was a little too unrealistic, people were discussing that. You came along and implied that I shouldn't worry about if things are unrealistic, I should just be quiet and enjoy the show. I was under the impression that this is the thread where we discuss the show.

Was I not contributing to the discussion? I re-read my post, and nowhere did I see "so quit discussing it" or any implication of that. You're reading too much into one line post.
But hey, if you want to write an exaggerated reply to a harmless post then be my guest. A simple "No." would have answered my question.

Can you guys take it to PM? It's getting annoying seeing this great thread constantly bumped because of a petty squable...
Back to the Breaking Bad talk...
Did anyone else find that old lady in the nursing home hilarious? "Hello! Hello!" I was laughing pretty good at that. I'm wondering if she'll make an appearance next season. As far as I can tell, she's the only one at the nursing home still alive that can place Walt there on the day of the explosion.
I'm thinking next season Mike or Hank might start poking around at the home, forcing Walt into a decision about whether or not to take out an innocent old lady.

No! It's done. I win! Now that's petty.

Do you really think the old lady would be aware enough to be a reliable witness to Walt? I imagine she's just a one-off, and won't be back in the future. Mike wouldn't need her anyway, it would probably be pretty obvious to him that Walt had something to do with it.

I can't believe the old lady was the only person to see Walt go into the nursing home.
In terms of the threat to Walt from Hank / the DEA, Walt would have to be much more worried about the dozens of people who saw him and Jesse going into the Superlab every day. Someone would cave under the threat of deportation.

Yeah, the old lady at an old folks home is going to be what brings Walt down? I think not. I highly doubt the old lady is brought up again or even mentioned.
The people in the lab theory is an interesting one though. Did those people know Walt's name though? They could probably give a description, but good enough to get the DEA onto Walt? I don't know.

What ever happened to Ted Beneke? Did they reveal whether he died? Is he paralyzed? Perhaps he'll factor into something next season.

It depends who they give a description too. No doubt it would be Hank, which means if all they say or allude to is "bald, white, glasses, goatee" he could immediately think of Walt. Then, I imagine he'd have some inner turmoil then finally show a picture of Walt to them and get a positive ID.
I really think Hank has been looking into Walt for a while now. Hank was known to be good at his job, not just a meat head so I figure after the drunken dinner talk followed by Walts suspicious behavior during the stake out, that he sort of sort of clued in.

I think he views Walt as too much of an egg head. I really don't think he has the slightest clue about Walt. If he were looking into Walt, he would have found the truth pretty easily.

Yeah, I'm with you. I really don't think he suspects Walt at all.
Having said that, if he gets one hint that Walt is somehow involved in anything Gus related, Hank would put the pieces together pretty fast and would figure it out.

Why not? He just walked right up to Hector and sat down in front of him, same as Gus did everytime he went to see him. He didn't speak to anyone else while he was there.

The superlab is burned down now. If they're all illegals working there, they have no reason to ever go back, and I doubt they'll be easy to find now.
And I'm not saying the two event are mutually exclusive either.
It's just that I suspect next season we will see Walt going down a very dark path and killing an innocent old lady is something that would drive home this point nicely. Plus there's the fact that Breaking Bad rarely puts scenes that have such little significance. Just a thought.

It seemed to me they went really out of their way specifically not mention his condition, which kind of makes me suspect that he is not dead.
I think it'll be another plot device to show the hypocricy of Skylar, much like the earlier seasons where she wanted nothing to do with Walt's drug money but helped Ted to commit tax fraud. My guess is that next season will start with her being extremely upset with Walt for committing murder, but later she will need someone to shut Ted up once he resurfaces.

The creator of the show, in the interview I linked to above, admits that he has no real idea of where next season is going yet, so the old lady could't have been put in with a future path or event in mind.
I think you have your idea of where you want next season to go, and are forcing things to fit that.

I think the idea of a super criminal doesn't fit Hank's mental model of Walt - he seems to see him as a bit of a pencil neck. I think he'd need to be hit over the head with something before he could really wrap his mind around it. Once he did, I'm sure it would be one of those "how could I not see that? It was in front of me the whole time!" moments, though, like the realization moment by Chazz Palmentari's character in the Usual Suspects.

Wow am I ever glad I steered clear of this thread after episode 11. That spoiler quote posted would have destroyed me. Reminds me a LOT of the spoiler that happened right before the season 4 finale of Dexter by the access who played Rita. What is it about great shows having actors who can't keep their yaps shut?
Loved the finale and agree it could have been a decent ending to the series.
