I know how to use the face-off stradegy in NHL11. It doesn't exist in the 12 demo or not on PS3 at least.

i thought the same, but it is there.

during the post whistle cut scene, hold down the rear trigger button (left index finger button) and push what you would to skate up, and the face off positioning will be "aggressive".

For those who are curious, the Flames Heritage Classic jersey is NOT in the game. This is a big disappointment for me, as I really like having a lot of different jersey options, vintage and otherwise.

Looks like the only jerseys that have been added, aside from the new jerseys that can be unlocked with the code (Third jerseys, Winnipeg), are:

Detroit 2009 Winter Classic
Boston 2010 Winter Classic
New Jersey Christmas jerseys (Edge & CCM)
Mighty Ducks original jerseys

Hopefully they atleast fixed the numbers on the Flames alternate jersey.

I have a gut feeling EA didn't update the Saddledome at all, hopefully I'm wrong.

I actually inquired about this a few months back. Apparently since the HC Flames jersey was only worn once, EA wasn't permitted to include it in the game.

L2 (LT) + direction activates faceoff strategies.

Hearing that it's really tough to make what should a pretty even trade with CPU in Be A GM.

Any impressions from that mode?

As I posted above, the new jumbotron is in the game. Each NHL arena has got theirs updated. (including implementing the Consol Energy Center for the Pittsburgh Penguins) Of note though, there is a surprising amount of arenas absent of the actual arenas names. (Chicago is named Chicago Stadium rather then United Center, Sharks and Bruins still don't have real life names)

Haven't tested out the offline game modes enough yet to answer these.

Stick lifts effectiveness has been reduced since it's not automatic puck retrieval anymore. Skating speed and momentum seems to have more importance. I've been able to attempt to drive the net better if I have a bit more of a step on the defender I've found. This is especially apparent on hardcore play style. Goalies on initial impressions are more aggressive at going after loose pucks in front of them.

The difference between the demo and the game isn't night and day to me. It seems subtle tweaks have been done, but nothing huge. I didn't play too much hardcore play style in the demo though, so playing it in the retail version makes a big difference in terms of how the game plays.

Looks like it only took about 3 years of bi*ching to finally get that scoreboard in there. The league of uncompromising NHL video game players would like to offer Jobo a round of applause.

I find it very hard to believe that adding at least a little bit of general common sense to the AI roster management would be all that difficult, other games don't seem to find it to be as impossible as the NHL developers do.

The in game improvements seem to be decent, but with roster issues like this I'm likely to be bored with the game quite quickly. I'm also not that happy to see that rookie BAP players are lighting up the league just like in years past. I was really hoping the sim setup would let you put up a bit more of a realistic season with less minutes played etc.

I'll likely still buy it, the changes are enough to do so, but it's frustrating that the small changes that weren't added could have really taken this game to the next level.

I guess it is back to Eastside Hockey Manager 2007 for a competent Franchise mode.

Seems like the modes I enjoy playing are still broken. I never bought '11 because Be a GM is broken and the Be a Pro always seems to be broken.

I have '10 and my overpowered first year pro scored 65 goals between the AHL and NHL and my team decided they didn't want to sign me because I wasn't progressing or some such nonsense. I went back this past week to play '10 and started a fantasy draft Be a GM. Lost the cup final in year 1 and in year 2 I had a bunch of prospects ready for full time duty. In order to fit these guys under the cap I had to dump salary. All well and good except I'll be damned if I could do it. No word of a lie after being frustrated in trying to move players in bad trades (for me), I tried to make the ultimate bad trade: Crosby for a 5th round pick. NO team would take him. Either he wasn't what they were looking for or they didn't want to take on more one-way contracts.

I quickly remembered why I gave up on '10 very early. Really doesn't look like I'll be getting '12. First time EVER I've gone two seasons without getting the game. Guess I'll be continue with Fifa as my sports game this year. At least with Fifa Be a Pro you get some sense of accomplishment while improving the skill of your player and working your way up through the leagues.
