I'm debating on buying COD or Battlefield. Obviously posting in a battlefield thread I'm going to get more people telling me to get battlefield. I had Bad company 2 and playing online was enjoyable, but I probably had just as much fun with MW2. I hear all this talk about MW3 being a re-hash of MW2 which is why I'm hesitant, but Battlefield 3 looks nearly identical to Battlefield 2.

BF3 is more a cross between BF2 and Bad Company 2. take the much better infantry combat of BC2, combine it with the larger maps and superior vehicle combat of BF2, and give it a brand new engine that is simply stunning to look at and you have BF3

Are you telling me if you came upon that you'd just let them be? I'd do exactly what he did. And laugh at them while I'm at it.
They're not exactly helping your team win, if they spend the map hiding somewhere playing footsie with a robot. This exploit can be easily fixed in a number of ways, including taking away repair points for the EOD bot, or limiting people to x number of repairs of the same vehicle in a given time, like they did in BC2.

yeah who cares.. its still a game. Plus to be honest the game isnt really newb friendly. I can understand why someone would want to do this to level up and get the good guns. I probably should do this so i can get all the good guns ... but I wont.

it would only get you the generic gun unlocks and the engineer ones anyways. you'd still have to play as assault, support, and recon to unlock those weapons
What kills me is I can't see to get any good scores to level up and unlock the scopes and such. (xbox)
I'll be honest, I'm not very good, usually get stuck in a team death match and go 5-15, but I drop my med packs, and yet my scores are like 500 if that, and I see these guys with 2000+ that are like 10-1, how the hell are they doing it?
I must say not having access to decent scopes and gadgets and getting slaughtered by guys with IR's and 8X optics is getting on my nerves!
Whats the point in telling someone to run up the stairs, grab the machine gun and provide cover, when there is no cover up there, and 9/10 times he'll get shot.
Remind me again why I hated the whole you can blow away the cover in the Battlefield games. I know it might be more realistic, but you actually have to create cover then that lasts longer than 2 bullets.

Play conquest and capture flags. That's a good way to rack up points quickly. Neutralizing the flag is 150 points and another 200 for capturing one, IIRC. That's equivalent to 3.5 kills. And it's easier to do on consoles where there are less players.
Also, you can't be too agressive in this game if you're used to other FPSes. If you just run around at random trying to rack up kills, you're going to be the one getting killed. You have to do a lot of crawling around prone and hiding behind cover and such. Also remember that it's easier to play defence than offence (ie let them come to you). Also, try to find a good squad. Real teamwork will absolutely own anyone playing as a lone wolf.

haha that was the exact same spot where I stopped the single player too. A shame, because visually it's pretty stunning. Would love to keep playing it but way to frustrated by being forced to compete missions in such ridiculous fashion.
To the losers who constantly grab airplanes - STOP IT.
1) You have no idea how to use the jet effectively
2) You go the entire mission without killing anyone or suiciding into a building / the ground
3) You end up getting shot down by a Stinger anyways
4) You suck a dog fights
Seriously, if you don't know how to use the planes effectively, grab a tank or some other vehicle and use that.
I know I need more practise with the jets because I can't do **** when I am using one. So instead of trying to "practise" in the middle of a CTF or Rush, I don't use one. It's pretty simple.

Flag captures (you get like 200 points for a neutralize and 250 for a capture), Attack orders & resurrections.
I went 6-10 one round k/d, but managed to get 3000 points for 2nd overall on my team (which won). I set 2 bombs (500 points!) on Rush mode and resurrected at least 10 of my own team (100 points each!). Dropping the med packs (w/ squad bonus), team respawns help too.
Being is a squad really helps get extra points.
Team stuff really helps you get score overall.
Also, sticking with 1-2 other guys who are assaulting really helps - I can throw down med kits and resurrect them for lots of score and occasionally get a kill.
