My company gives Christmas bonuses. Basically we look at our profits for the year (our fiscal year-end is in the fall), and allocate a certain amount to employees. The amount each employee gets out of that is based on seniority and performance. Most years it probably works out to around 5% of salary or a bit more, depending on how profitable the year is.

My xmas bonus was getting to go to a company xmas party and drink a lot, with no hangups about what other people are or are not doing.

Our company gave a 1.5% Christmas bonus to all employees, that is separate from the yearly bonuses on performance that are doled out in Spring.

I don't get a Christmas bonus, but I get other little perks, such as a very generous compensation package for being on-call. Actually my boss took my department out to lunch yesterday. I get to go to conferences on the companies dime, and for some of the conferences I get to bring my family along. I'm not complaining about getting a bonus specifically for Christmas. If you consider the perks/extras then it is like Christmas all year long where I work.
At my last job, both of the owners slipped a $50 (each) in my Christmas card for two Christmas' in a row.
I volunteered at a place and on the last day before we closed for Christmas we closed at noon and the boss took us all out to lunch.
When I worked at Canadian Tire our Christmas bonus was a $25 gift certificate to.. Canadian Tire. The certificate came from the social committee. The same committee to which you were required to pay a yearly fee of $25.
When I worked at KFC the owner came in on Christmas even and handed out cash to whoever was working that evening. I think some people got more than others.

I get nothing. I guess thats what I get for letting other people decide my worth. Employment is awesome.

I am not an Engineer nor a Lawyer but I always get a Christmas bonus, I guess us Insurance guys dont have it so bad afterall! I got a few thousand dollars which is always nice, my only beef (well, maybe not beef but whiny complaint) is that there are people doing the exact same job as me, in Calgary, with similar experience getting bonuses closer to $10K. Now that is what I call a chunk of change for the holidays!

I work at a publically traded company - no Christmas bonus. If there is a bonus it will be in mid February when the year end financials are announced.

My company used to give out Christmas Bonuses. Every one in the company regardless of salary received the same amount. It was usually between $2000 - $2500.
They sold out to a bigger company this year. Our new employers are giving each of us a turkey.

It would feel weird getting a turkey or a ham for a Christmas bonus. I want a bonus, not charity.

I get a yearly bonus in march that can range from 0 - 30% depending on how our company does. It's an O&G company and we have not done very well since 2008....
Oh, I guess I should mention we also get project bonuses when they go well and those range from 1 - 5K depending on how involved you were with the project.

I have never recieved a Christmas bonus. Must be nice for some of you guys, that's for sure. It never even crosses my mind, and I would never call my company cheap.
How does some of your guys' companies give $10k Christmas bonuses???
Talk about having too much money, Christ.

^^^ You poor O&G people. Only 0 - 30% depending on how well the company has done. I'm sure even in the down turn you were still getting at least 15%.
I'm lucky if I get a Christmas party.

Ugh , I hate giving bonuses. I work for a family business and I am in the family. My last name may or may not be Corleone. Our guys got bonuses but they always complain that its not enough. They got 1k each in cash and then we took them to a nice lunch. Then we bought gifts ranging from Lcd Tvs to Xbox360 to Blu-ray players and designated each a number. Then had the guys draw a number. Whatever number they got they got the gift that was designated for that number. Some of them still complained.. geesh

that is why i have learned to avoid talking about salary or compensation to anyone that isn't one of my direct co-workers, in this city doing so just leaves me depressed
