Stamps hire Mike Gibson as running backs coach.

Gibson has coached in the Canadian Football League for seven seasons, most recently as offensive co-odinator and running backs coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Prior to his two-season stint in Hamilton, he spent two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as assistant head coach and offensive line coach and a total of three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers — two as the offensive co-ordinator and one as offensive line coach.

Good, if for no other reason than to have him standing on the sidelines whispering in Dickenson's ear not to abandon the running game.

Crandell really? WTF is that?
Tillman has to keep as many of the Riders that are still in the league, that were in Sask when he was, as close to him as possible to prevent any more stories from popping up.

Wow, if Crandell coach the way he played, the Eskimos will be in huge trouble.

HAMILTON STADIUM VOTED DOWN BY COUNCIL AS DEADLINE LOOMS

Club officials say the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will raise ticket prices by five to 10 per cent and triple the current $2 facility fee to help pay for their new home.

The Canadian Football League team released part of its business plan Tuesday to raise an extra $4 million a year over the next 44 years to help pay for a stadium slated to open for the 2012 season.
And of course the Riders.

The province needs to decide by the end of February whether to proceed with a domed stadium in downtown Regina, even if the federal government hasn't yet made clear its position on funding such facilities, says the provincial cabinet minister overseeing the proposed project.

Ken Cheveldayoff said recent comments by Prime Minister Stephen Harper — who in a Dec. 17 interview stated there's "no federal program to fund professional sports facilities" — aren't encouraging, as the province seeks support for a $431-million retractable roof facility.

This should be getting more press, a couple of CFL players are in Haiti at the moment. There going with Huddle for Haiti:

Quote:
Eskimo offensive linemen Kelly Bates and Aaron Fiacconi as well as fullback Graeme Bell, are among seven CFL players taking part in a humanitarian journey to Haiti as the nation gets set to observe the one year anniversary of the earthquake that devastated the country.

On January 12th, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit 25 km outside Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince leaving an estimated three million victims in its wake. With an estimated 230,000 deceased by January 24th, the earthquake and its subsequent 52 aftershocks left an estimated 300,000 injured and another estimated 1,000,000 homeless. Since then, the nation, which was already one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, has been trying to rebuild what the natural disaster destroyed.

Bates, Bell and Fiacconi will be joining BC Lion FB Rolly Lumbala, LS Chris Cvetkovic and RB Yvenson Bernard of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger Cat OT Jason Jimenez for the 10-day humanitarian journey as they depart from Miami on Saturday, January 8th for Port-au-Prince. The group will visit several communities including Leogane, the town where the earthquake originated (known as an epicentre). The players will be joining members of CARE Canada, who have set up shop in Leogane to provide a community-based program that provides support and counselling for Haitian children and their families traumatized by the earthquake. The CFL members will facilitate a sports day with the children, as well as tour the facilities and programs CARE Canada has set up to provide support for the Haitians.

The trip to Leogane is one of several visits the Huddle for Haiti team will be making. They will also attend several memorial services including the one-year memorial service in Port-au-Prince on Wednesday, January 12th.

Dave Naylor of TSN and Rob Vanstone from the Regina Leader post are also going along with them.

Copeland signs in Argoland.

The Toronto Argonauts have signed veteran receiver Jeremaine Copeland to a contract extension.
The move ensures that Copeland will not enter free agency next month.

good for the Argos! Copeland is great, will be interesting to see what they do at qb next season though, Stamps missed his leadership a bit this season I think

Default Stupid stupid Hamilton

http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=348918
It seems the Ticats are staying in Hamilton, which is great news for the storied franchise. unfortunately instead of going to a better site and building a new stadium, they are renovating Ivor Wynne, starting in 2012 to be finished in 2014. the stadium will have less capacity then current Ivor Wynne at 25000 seats. the location of the stadium is silly as it is far from the highway, has no parking and is in a not very nice area of Hamilton. originally they wanted to build on a different site, to maximize revenue and possibly create additional income/revitalization based on the area. not much room to do it where they are, and a small stadium, why not 30,000?
anyways, glad they are staying in Hamilton, but politically it is like the politicians don't want to make a tough decision, so they will just stay in thier rundown stadium and try to improve it. 30 years from now they will still need a new stadium, but the politicians in Hamilton will be gone by then, so its not thier problem

Yah, Hamilton is always one of those teams I cheer for when they are on and not playing one of the Alberta teams. I figured they would move and combine the new stadium with a Soccer team or the like.

I have been to every CFL stadium except Molson field and of course the Big O. Ivor Wynne is on par with McMahan IMO except in just an awful awful awful location.

And to no surprise the Stamps have traded Labinjo. To Montreal for futures.

He was in the dog house a lot last year. Too bad - he was dominating in the last Stamp Grey Cup victory.

With Miguel Robede playing better last season and the signing of Corey Mace, we kind of thought he would be gone before the end of the season anyways. I like Labinjo but his game tailed off the last two seasons. I am kind of happy that we will get something in return for him and he will also play for Montreal. At least he will get a chance to win a Grey Cup again and the best part he didn't sign for Eskimos, Riders or Lions.

Good Luck on Labinjo!

As of right now here are Calgary's 2011 CFL draft positions.

1st round - 6th
2nd round - 9th (Via Winnipeg), 11th (Via BC), 14th.
3rd round - Forfeit pick for Forzani.

Im not sure about 4th, 5th and 6th round picks, they are not listed here.

Labinjo was a liability as he was always injured. Too bad though, he was a great player for the Stamps.

I don't hink McMahon is a great stadium but you really think a piece of garbage like Ivor Wynne is on par with it?

Ivor Wynne should have been torn done a few years ago.

Renovating it is a terrible idea. The city and team really missed a great opportunity to get a real stadium in the city due to petty politics.
