Although a airport lrt link would be nice, the way this city is so car horny, there is no way in hell it would even come close to being economic. I bet there would be 6 people a day using it.
Well if it's a direct airport extension I'd use it. Probably the only time I'd use Transit too since it'll save me that $15 a day long term parking or a $50 cab ride...

That's one thing I would love to see in Calgary - the extension of the LRT Line to the airport.

And a 20% property tax hike.

I fail to see the connection here.
I hope you're being sarcastic here...

LRT extension=hundreds of millions out of city coffers=more propety taxes
It probably is in the plan for the future, so really it doesn't directly lead to higher taxes it just depends on how many other projects that will be going on at the same time. Also who knows maybe there will be more funds injected into infrastructure because of the surplus in Alberta

Or you can just dream on because Ralphie isn't gonna let anyone (whether they're named Bronco or not) to come near his retirement fund anytime soon.

Well it is all fine and dandy to say that as there haven't been a lot of cheque writing in the last 10 years, but Klein did excatly what he said he was going to do (what was what most Albertans wanted him to do) and eliminate the debt. Now I hope that he will again do what most albertans want (which may or may not include road and transit funding).

I don't see how the Surplus has anything to do with Ralphs retirement fund. Whats the difference if Alberta has 1 Billion surplus or a 10 Billion surplus?

Obviously I wasn't being completely serious about his retirement fund. What I'm saying is that you likely won't see any more $$ from Ralph in terms of Bronco's pet projects on asphalt because he just gave him a billion dollars and Ralphie still hasn't touched the Heritage fund to date despite it having enough $$ to start a system like Alaska's dividends program.

So where exactly do you see this money going? I am asking realistically, it can't just sit there (unless it sits as an investment)

That's exactly what it is doing right now, it's just sitting there collecting interest (or dust, depends how you see it). The lefties have been screaming for Ralph to pour it into health care and education, the conservatives (the real small Cs, not Ralph's Tories) have been suggesting an Alaska-like program to be started. But for years he has done nothing with it.

no inferiority complex....not so much...just a response to Edmonton bashing...all in good fun eh?....and ya I do live in Edmonton and its 5 minutes to the airport...its like 7 minutes from south edmonton common...just so you know

It is only 7 minutes from South Edmonton Common if you are starting on Calgary Trail at the 19th street intersection at 3 AM in the morning.

If you start anywhere inside SEC, add 10-40 minutes depending on the time of day just to get out of that clusterpuck, and depending on the number of idiots on Calgary Trail (which is, really, most of the cars on the road), traffic will kill you as well.

5 minutes from city limits I can buy, though it was stupid to build an international airport in Leduc.

I've taken about 30 flights from Edmonton International airport. From South Common it takes no more than 12-15 minutes.

Hong Kong's airport is the World's best. It took us about 30 minutes to get in the city limits.....and that was at 1 AM.
Edmonton doesn't have an International Airport, Leduc does.
...and Vancouver doesn't have an airport. Richmond does.

....Hong Kong doesn't have an airport.

...could go on and on...
