no, no they shouldn't, FUBAR and the TPB's are two entirely different entities....TPB has a bunch of east coast jokes in it, FUBAR is Albertan bangers at their best!
EDIT: Also if you havn't read "JUST GIVE'R A Handguide by Terry & Dean", I highly suggest it, great piece of literature.
Terry and Dean’s lonesome moment when the penny drops — and with these two it always takes a while for it to hit bottom — is the charm behind these metal-loving Canuckleheads. As with the 2002 movie that introduced us to the pair, director Michael Dowse (who co-wrote the script with Lawrence and Spence) makes it clear that these are loveable losers. Sure they’re idiots, but there’s something sweetly pathetic about their naïve ways. Dean’s plan to buffalo his way onto Workers Compensation, as well-thought-out as any of this feeble schemes, is so ridiculous, you can’t help hoping he does manage to cripple himself. Come on, Dean, give’r!
Director Mike Dowse and the actors walk a line here between comedy that’s both cheerfully asinine and dark as bitumen. Though the energy flags a little in the film’s second half, overall the comedy feels nervy and original.
The first Fubar was set up as a documentary about heavy-metal life, but Fubar II drops the pretence of a film-within-a-film to show us more of a Canada-within-a-Canada, a rising tide that is lifting a lot of leaky boats. It's an old story in a new setting, and while the humour of stupidity is well done - a lot of it is improvised - it's beginning to feel a little like yet another night at the same noisy bar.
The sequel's success lies in the performances by improv veterans Spence and Lawrence, who locate undercurrents of humanity in what could otherwise be loutish caricatures.
They may be part of a lengthy tradition of blue-collar pop culture Canucks - from Bob and Doug McKenzie to Wayne and Garth (who were inspired by Mike Myers' made-in-Scarborough experiences) - but Fubar II is also decidedly darker, with Terry and Dean clinging to fun and friendship in the face of dire circumstances.
Just got back from the movie. There was a whole contingent of guys dressed up for the movie. I liked it. It was different from the first movie in that it had an actual story. However, the first movie had a lot more classic lines.
I enjoyed it. Had a rare day off yesterday so my wife and I hit up the matinee. Six or eight people in there including us at Country Hills.
My wife still prefers the original movie, but I quite like them both. The sequel is a little more cohesive and there are some jokes that are obviously planned out (Deaner idolizing Ronnie James Dio's poster during an acid trip at the beginning, laying the groundwork for the climax - very smart).
On a related note - I saw that Justin Hawkins (from The Darkness) is credited on the yet-to-be-released soundtrack.
The fact he was yellin that at McMahon made that 100 times funnier for me. I think that was half the fun of that movie, just noticing all the local things in there(like when he dropkicks whats very clearly a Calgary Sun newspaper dispenser, or driving to High River to get er done).
So jacked for the new one, was supposed to see it last night but my buddy ended up bailin because he had to put out a fire with his old lady so it was a no-go. Girls funkin' blow.

He was yelling that at the directors art film. At McMahon he yelled "I recommend you take up another sport! .... like knitting!"
I need to check out the first one, where do they sell it at?
You can rent it at Civic Video in Morningside, Brisbane, Australia. I did on Sunday.
I still can't believe that it was on the shelf here. Had no choice, had to educate the g/f on Canadian headbanger lifestyle. She laughed her ass off for the entire movie.
Anyway, if I can find it in a video store here, you probably can in Canada.

I can't remember where I bought my copy, but that was back when it was first released on DVD. I'd check out Amazon, eBay, and all of those online places. There are bound to be copies out there.
For a rental, I'd be willing to bet that Casablanca and Bird Dog Video have copies.

Finally caught FUBAR II this weekend and it surpassed my expectations. More than a few laugh out loud moments and some really cringeworthy scenes involving Deaner. Maybe I didn't give the filmmakers enough credit beforehand but I didn't expect it to be this good, turned out to be well written, hilarious and very entertaining.
These guys absolutely nailed every aspect of Albertan douchbaggery, they didn't miss anything. My friends and I were still laughing about it days after and going over scenes, great movie.
8/10
Habernac, you checking out this thread? Curious what you thought of the movie being a former resident of "The Mac".
Too mant great scenes, I'd hate to ruin it for others with spoilers but I can't help myself. The Trish character was perfect with the screaming, fighting and cheating. Terry all happy about the price at the pump coming down then getting laid off. Tron acting like a bigshot promising jobs, his truck especially was hilarious. Blowing all their cash on the weekend trip to West Ed, buying the Warlock instead of the goalie pads. The worker's comp scam, Terry buying a truck he can't afford, Deaner living in his car which is not far off for McMurray, and on and on. And not to leave out, "the Mac can be a cruel mistress". Hahahaha.
