In April I went to my cousin's wedding in Arlington, TX and this was played twice at the reception:
Was never found guilty.
Did they happen to have BBQ and serve it on paper plates at that reception? Hopefully it was a DJ who played that and not someone from the wedding party requesting it.

Some good ideas in this thread....Ive been putting together our list for what seems like months now....so hard to cut it down to 50 songs.
So far I only have one rule: it's gotta be dancy. It can be slow dancy or fast dancy, country, rock, pop, whatever....but it's gotta have a beat. Since I'm more of a rock guy, unfortunately this means a lot of my favorite music got the cut pretty early....but there's nothing worse than people just standing around for 4 minutes because some totally un-danceable song comes on. (although I am thinking of putting Baba O'Riley as the entrance song).
I'm a kid of the 90's, but a huge chunk of my music is from the 80s. Besides some Britpop, not a love of dance songs from the 90's/00's I'm really digging....
Btw, is it in bad form to ask the DJ to deny ALL requests? I have had enough issues of cutting my music list down of songs I like, I don't wan a minute filled up with anything else. Plus I don't want to some maroon ruining my wedding with Who Let the Dogs Out.
motley crue... girl don't go away mad, girl, just go away
ac/dc... mistress for christmas
??
... on a serious note - at the last reception i was at i requested thunderstruck (mostly as a joke).... the tune started and everyone was one the dance floor rocking out

If you have 50 songs you're not going to stray from and you're not accepting requests, it sounds like you need an iPod, not a dj.

Pretty much. But we still need someone to play the particular songs (first dance, cake cutting etc) at the right moments, and gauge the mood of the crowd to determine what song comes next....so there is still a need for a human. She's also going to be the MC.
