Thats actually pretty impressive. When I was a kid my brother and I watched in horror as my 1 year old German Shepard cross, fought with a raccoon in about 12 inches of water. My dog wanted to kill that raccoon so bad, but the raccoon stood his ground and would grab onto my dogs head with all four feet and try to hold him under water. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed in my life. My brother and I tried like crazy to get our dog to stop for his own good. Finally he tired out and let the raccoon go. After about 20 minutes when we thought the dog had calmed down and the raccoon was far enough away we let go of our dog. The dumb bugger went running down the river and attacked the raccoon again.

Meh, beavers get trapped all the time. They are a major nuisance on ranches. They flood land, and cut down all the big poplar trees.

Yep, my dad trapped a dozen or so on the creek that went through our land every year. Didn't seem to weaken the population any. The county dynamited the damns and we dug them up with a backhoe. Never took the beavers long to rebuild. They are a pretty amazing animal.
