That letter is ridiculous. I can't help but wonder if he was actually drunk when he wrote it and sent it off and is now regretting it.

The whole TV thing was ridiculus and in bad taste but I think we should respect the decision he made.

He didn't care about his basketball legacy. Now he will always be a Pippen to Wade's Jordan. If he wanted legacy he would have went to the knicks and built a contender alone and become a basketball jesus.

He didn't care about money, tax considerations aside he still leaves 30 million guarenteed on the table should he get injured and likely some more if the cap rules change next year.

He didn't care about championships. His best oppurtunity for a championship was in chicago with Boozer or Bosh with Noah and Rose and other pieces already in place.

All he cared about was playing basketball with his friends. He moves to miami to play basketball with his buddies trying to recreate his high school days.

Shouldn't we admire an athlete who didn't put money or winning first. It really is something different. His priorities just aren't the same as Kobe or Jordon. He is a great talent who doesn't care about winning.

Miami won't win a championship. They have no one to guard howard or Gasol and no cap room to add guys and will be burnt out by the playoffs because they will all have to put in huge regular season minutes against teams at the top of their game gunning for them.

That company Fathead is selling their LeBron James fathead for $17.41 (regular price is $99.99). The interesting part of that is 1741 is the year that Benedict Arnold, who was a traitor to the United States, was born. And the owner of Fatheads is the same owner of the Cavs.

http://cleveland.sbnation.com/2010/7...enedict-arnold

Congratulations to Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and that other guy.

What a bunch of fools in that sport.

NHL players might be boring but at least they are for the most part down to earth, good people.

What a baby. Get a grip.

I want LeBron to win multiple championships now before Cavs though. Clearly the owner doesn't understand this is business, despite James making a sideshow out of this. Owner should be more composed.

oh please, he strung them along for months. LeBron's little TV show "I'm out" special was a slap in the face. I'm glad Gilbert blasted him, and he's getting overwhelming support from people in Cleveland, so it obviously worked.

Still no excuse to make yourself look like a drunken ass over the tirade and give yourself a childish personality as well. Claiming stuff like LeBron is a traitor and evil villain that betrayed the Cavs franchise? Please. He's the reason the Cavs even had notice the past several years and turn black in the net revenue.

Instead of calling him a coward and all the other stuff, the owner could have simply stated he was pissed the James didn't even have the courtesy to give him a call to tell them he's going to Miami, but instead chose to string everyone along because of his ego. I think that would have come across way better than the tirade he put up.

Well, he was probably pretty emotional at the time.

I would be too if that coward ran away like that.

James screwed the Cav's on a ton of levels, including delaying his decision until after all of the higher end free agents were signed and gone. He set back that franchise by years.

If James had been a standup guy he wouldn't have lead the Cav's along until there were no other options. There was no question that James was going to follow his buddies wherever they were going, and since Bosh had stated that Cleveland wasn't big enough for him it was clear to everyone that James would follow him.

But instead he lead the Cav's on and gave them the feeling that there was a chance to resign him.

I don't blame the owner for lashing out, and I think it was awesome in this day and age of the spoiled athlete, especially the ones in the NBA.

You know it was only a matter of time before Jesse Jackson weighed in.

WTF? The LeBron special was the third most watched show on cable tv so far this year (behind the NFL Pro Bowl, and an episode if ICarly - whatever the hell that is): http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/J...or-ESPN-071110

Why would anyone have wasted an hour of their life watching that?

If there was no question about it, shouldn't the Cavs have known about it too? Everyone's been speculating that LeBron would leave in 2010 back in 2008.

They either had to lock him up with an extension or trade him a year early (like the Blue Jays and Halliday). There's no way they should have let him go to FA and let HIM make the decision. Don't let the player control you! They trusted LeBron and paid dearly for it.

Same with the Raptors, there was trade talk about Bosh since 2009 and the Raps really should have pulled the trigger.

If team lets a player go to free agency, they can't blame the player for leaving under any circumstances. That the risk the team takes.

I can't imagine this guy is going to have much clout during ownership meetings, anymore.

Come to think of it, this is why owners hire commissioners to represent their league.

At the end of the day, he is wealthier and smarter than LeBron James. He signed the guy's cheques for the first part of his career, I'm sure he expected some loyalty.
