Are there any rare drops in this game? I'm only level 15, but the only drops I get are quest items and some crafting stuff.

Looks like they fixed a lot of the server issues and people can actually get on.

Yeah I believe you can get them through dungeons and maybe FATEs.

What are they capping each server at? How many servers?

Based on how big a flop 1.0 was, Square-Enix was fairly conservative in their sales estimates. They were predicting a slow start and hoping word of mouth would cause sales and players to rise over time. Instead, they got hammered by immediate demand. Nice problem to have, I suppose.
I'm hoping they re-enable digital sales next week. Want to give it a shot.

I did some reading about their launch and it is an interesting situation to be in. A company that has faced failure directly, admitted defeat and started over now is faced with over whelming demand. Very fine line, go in to far and the vacuum created as people leave could ruin your game yet again. Resist too much and you risk losing possible long term customers.
They handled the first situation fine, so I am sure this will turn out well.

I think they handled the log-in issues fine, it took a while to get them resolved but at least they admitted their mistakes and did something about it.
It was definitely frustrating, but once you could get into the game it is a lot of fun.

Finally got into the game and had a chance to play last night... for about an hour before the server maintenance, lol, and gotta say, damn does it look pretty. The whole quest interface needs a serious makeover though. I don't like having to accept a quest before I know what its requirements are, and the way one turns over an item is ridiculous. I think the amount of time it takes to get out into the world and start killing things may turn some people off as well.

How did you get in? Did they re-open digital downloads or did you find a copy somewhere?

Bought it at the Future Shop in the NE. Looks like they have since sold out though. There was only one other copy when I bought mine, and only two stores even showed as having any.

I bought a physical copy of this and started playing last night.
It's not bad so far, it feels a little sluggish compared to WoW, not solely the GCD being longer, but the movement in general. I'm not a big fan of jumping slowing you down in any game, so that's a hurdle for me as I'm pretty OCD and like to jump constantly. I think it's something I'm starting to get used to though. I also don't like the quest item turn in process.
But other than those two minor things, it's fun so far. I'm still low level so I haven't done any dungeons, but I'm really looking forward to that part. I've been told that the PVE in this game is pretty good, so I'm hoping it lives up to the talk.

The dungeons are quite challenging when compared to current state WoW dungeons. You run 4 man groups with 2 dps, 1 tank, and 1 healer. When you get to the mid 30's they start to add mechanics to boss fights that if everybody isn't on the same page, executing, and pulling their weight, you will fail. It's a refreshing change from the faceroll aoe-fest that you see in WoW right now.
For the quest turn-ins, you may already know this, but you can right click the box to add the item, rather than hunting for it in your bags. It's faster, but there's still some redundancy in the whole process.

Yeah, you can right click it, and select hand over, but then it just populates the dialogue box with the item and you have to click hand over again. It just seems totally unnecessary. I have the quest item, just take it out of my bag automatically.
Looking forward to becoming a warrior though so I can weave those combos on dungeon bosses. Just hope the AE tanking it's too annoying.

Picked the game up at PAX. Squareenix was running an event where you had to kill a brand new instance boss in 15 minutes with an 8 man party. He wasn't a pushover, we wiped on the first try but got him the next time, even with one of our main healers knocked out early. I got my copy signed by the lead composer Masayoshi Soken and.. some other guy
Having a lot of fun with this, rolled a monk pugilist and its a cool class to play. I guess my one complaint so far is the instance queuing takes forever at times, but at least you can do other things while you wait. I'd like to try a healer class eventually but I'll really have to know what I'm doing.

They do, but you have to be good. Waited 45 mins to do the copperbell run and our tank was not very good. Our healer kept getting swarmed and the acanist had to use his pet as a tank just to keep us alive.
Final boss battle all the tank did was sit next to the boss, i had to pull mobs off our healer repeatedly. We made it out okay because copperbell isnt so bad, but i can foresee waiting a long time to get in a high level instance only to wipe repeatedly because even at that high level the tank STILL doesn't know how to play, and I'm sure you'll need to be near perfect to get through the high level stuff.
I'm thinking of leveling glad just so i can get Flash or Provoke to help in cases like this...

The only way tanks will get better is if they get a chance to practice and are provided constructive criticism. I'll agree there's a lot of bad players right now and that's the reason I prefer to avoid duty finder if I can and group with friends. I'm new to tanking as well and using duty finder makes me nervous because of all the ragers if I screw up lol.
For the final boss in Copperbell, the tank should be focusing on the main boss and the DD should be working on the adds. Healer should be close to tank and can throw in the odd nuke to help on the main boss.

Fair points, but I guess the biggest issue was just the tank not paying attention to chat, pretty important to make separate windows so you dont miss any communication from your team, but that goes for any role in any MMO.
I'm a bit unsure how the boss fight is supposed to go but i think the adds got a bit out of control, there were 4 or 5 of them on the healer at one point. I think the issue was the tank just sat in a corner with the boss instead of moving him closer to the boulders, so it made it tough for the casters to do their thing with everyone so spread out. We weren't too hard on him after the fight because we still won, but hopefully he gets better. It's a tough job though, no doubt about that.

Any idea what the speech bubble with the "..." inside it means? I've been trying to search all over the net for an explanation, but i cant find anything.
Here's a picture, the icon I'm talking about is next to "Boom Jinx" and "Aidan Phoenixblood." There's no tooltips in lists like these, which is a bit annoying.
EDIT: It just means that they have a search comment set up, and you can right click on them to view it. Guess its obvious to most people but I had no idea. I thought maybe that person had some kind of voice chat function enabled.
This is my main gripe with the game, a lack of documentation. Looks like Squeenix is counting on fan made wikis to explain to noobs how their game actually works

Copperbell took me 4 tries to finally complete it XD. Key is for DD to kill the adds as soon as possible to prevent them from breaking the boulder. If the boulder breaks, then all hell breaks loose haha
