I don't post much since it seems my opinion has usually been stated by someone else. Why clog a thread with a post that is the exact same as another poster?
I'd rather read someone's opinion (which is different then mine) then see the same thing re-posted 15 times by 15 other people.

Why don't we trade the FOI forum for some first and second round draft choices?

Unless Lowe is on the other end no first rounders coming back! maybe a second and a conditional pick.

ALL ABOARD!

Most posts in the FOI forum are full of cliff jumpers or Flames-can-do-no-wrong type posters. If you're negative you're a bandwagon jumper. If you're positive, you aren't being realistic enough. I can't fault the passion of Flames fans but mood swings of the posts is unbelievable.
I go in there to read when a breaking news story occurs but for the most part I avoid it. Too many panicing armchair GMs that don't know what they're talking about.

I think why I dislike posting there is what just happened.
Someone said they think boomer made up a rumor to get ratings.
I said the poster made a tin foil hat comment.
Apparently I was internet raging.
Just another day at the office.

I rarely post because I'm concerned what others think of me.....oh wait, no I don't!

Hmmm.. so let's see.
You made offensive comments to someone because they made a comment that had nothing to do with you at all and then you get all emotional when that person bites back?
Yeah, you are so hard done by around here.

I post less, because I read less. I have less time to spend on the site and don't want to wade through the drive-by comments, not thought out posts, or rehashed posts (sometimes they are all in the same post) to find the engaging conversation that originally drew me to this site.
As a result I'll quickly check on things on the OT forum more than I do in the FOI forum. I've found with more constraints on my time that I'm becoming a drive-by poster because I don't always have the time to post what I want to say.
I've grown tired of the nature of many arguments lately too, and that has lessened my desire to take part in the CP community. Perhaps I need to take a break and come back with a refreshed attitude regarding CP. This place is definitely not addicting me like it once did.

I post in there all the time. You have to have a thick skin to do it, and yeah sometimes I've snapped at people, but I still want to engage in discussion.
I've started some terrible threads out of pure emotion (read: Petition to Ken King) that I regret about 5 minutes later, but I've also started some great discussions and had lots of fun talking to people.
I find the people who are too harsh or bullyish tend to have to eat their words or worse, pubes once in a while.
I got slammed up and down for a "Dion will be traded" thread for being an idiot or whatever, when ultimately my prediction was true, and likely was true for the reasons I predicted it.
If you're going to put yourself out there, just remember: Everyone's here to share their opinions, that's what a forum is. Generally as a rule of thumb, respond to the counter points, not the personal attacks and you'll be OK.

What really bothers me are the long-winded posts that have very little actual content, the long-winded statistical responses that are utterly meaningless and the sheer number of passive-aggressive comments.

I mainly post in out of town scoreboard threads and when the canucks play. I hate the canucks and like pissing off canuck fans.

And it's become like the National Enquirer. All rumor and innuendo, little actual fact, and as you say, continually negative and confrontational.

Honestly no offense to the users Ih8crawford and Ark 2, but they are the reason I've been staying away from that side of the forum.
I'm sure I'm a reason for a lot of posters to stay away from the off-topic forum too.

Why not put the few users that you dislike on ignore instead of missing out on half the board?
