Why does -10,-15 feel so cold in Oct. @ 80% humidity, but in Feb. it's nice out ??? Why? We have all experienced that.
It takes awhile to get used to the "chill" and when you live somewhere relatively warm you never get used to it. People from Central America are freezing @10c,15c. Plus 10 15
Ice fog is not uncommon at -30 so it's not that dry.
Humidity is a "chill" factor, but it doesn't make much difference, nobody is getting frostbite or loosing toes in Vancouver or Toronto...

You can still get frostbite in Vancouver, it just limited for the most part, the massive amounts of homeless people who may sleep outside in the cold and wet. Either way there is much nicer weather in Canada than Vancouver...Victoria comes to mind, even White Rock generally has nicer weather.

I totally agree with you there. However anyone who says that Vancouver is not that much warmer than Calgary is delerious. The grass is green year round, flowers are out in March, and the growing season is double the length. I can't see how anyone can argue that the temperatures are just as warm in Calgary.
Yeah, Vancouver gets more moisture than Calgary by far, but the temperatures we get in April are colder than mid-winter temps on the coast. Don't get me wrong, I would never want to live in Vancouver due to the gross city and the dreary winters, but the weather in Calgary isn't very good. Even in the summer in Calgary the weather stinks a lot of the time.

Don't get me wrong, I was saying that at all....I was comparing Calgary winters to East Coast ones. Vancouver, while having it's own issues that drive one crazy, is clearly a milder climate.
Btw, I actually really love Calgary summers...a late-day summer Alberta bbq with the nice warm sunshine and dry air is hard to beat imo. Sure beats the sweaty ball fest I'm experiencing over here.

Fair enough, the most uncomfortable weather I have experienced was a week I spent in Moncton NB in Feb. It was -8 to -15 and the wind was roaring. My god was it cold. To this day I haven't felt cold like that.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Forget the science and the temperature mumbo jumbo..... humid and windy is the worst kind of cold there is to put up with.

Go spend a Day outside @ -30c and tell me it's not pure hell.
What it boils down to is this, when you have to walk from a warm place to another warm place the humidity "chills" you quicker in a higher humidity environment.
Until you actually spend a significant amount of time outside, you do not understand what -30 is like. I worked outside in cold weather in the early 80s and I won't forget that ever, and I live in the north where -40 and ice fog is not uncommon. Frostbite in Vancouver hehehe

Grass is green cause it rains a lot. Much smaller temperature range as well. Calgary in the winter can get cold at night, I guess if you are up all night that matters to you.....During the day when most people are up and about, there is a difference no doubt, but it isnt as great as you might think it is. My point was you can't look at the weather channel and see determine that is warmer based on the temperature cause like i said and others, its about how it feels to you and in the winter in Vancouver anything under 8 starts to get uncomfortable, wheres 8 in calgary in the winter is a nice day. And i am delerious since i lived there for 4 years.

Pinner, I spent enough morning days in Alberta waiting for the bus in the cold to know that -30 is no laughing matter. But I'd still trade the worst it can give for the worst winter I've had on the east coast.

LOL, I will take your word for it. It's just that you have a deep, deep hatred for anything involving Vancouver don't you?
