In my car, you're allowed to eat, smoke, drink, throw things out the window, I don't give a crap. I take it in once every four months, wash it once every 3 months and vaccum it once every six months. After that, I don't care what the hell happens to it. As long as it's got four wheels and moves forward, it doesn't need anymore love. It's just a car.

I spent $24K on my vehicle 9 years ago, fcuk yes i baby my vehicle. Once you realize how expensive those mofo's are, you baby it like it was a playboy playmate virgin.
I dont wax it, but I do wash it every other week no matter what and I take it once a year to do a full fledged in and out cleaning.

Just like people that drive Fotze's aforementioned S5 and park them in the winter. They are the must fun on the snow! It's a shame when they aren't used for it.

Don't disagree there. Those types of cars were meant to be driven hard and chucked around a bit. Then again if everyone bought cars for the performance and fun-factor (as opposed to the image they give off), you'd never seen an automatic transmission in any of them. It's somewhat sad how more and more of these cars are now designed for the image conscious poseur crowd, as opposed to the driving enthusiast who enjoys a simple, but great, driving experience (I'm looking at you, BMW).

I don't do it, but if someone else in my car does, I'm not going to blow a gasket unless it was a molotov cocktail or nuclear waste. Then we have a problem.

I once had a guy casually throw out a half full can of coke that hit my vehicle. He just threw it without looking. The can hit my car, not just a small splash of coke.
I was so stunned that I didn't do anything about it. I just asking myself.. "Did that really happen?"

Every time I get a new vehicle something stupid happens where it gets dinged up and needing body work of some type. So I've given up on trying to baby my vehicle. The 1979 Dodge truck that I paid $400 for, I didn't spend a dime on maintaining that beast, and I beat the tar out of it. The worst thing that happened to that vehicle...I had to break out the back window one day when the door locked on me in winter and I was locked out of my house.
In fact for my next vehicle I think I'm going to look for one that has been damaged before as that one will likely never end up getting dinged up, and I'll buy it for less money to start with.

Like some of you other car guys, I enjoy spending time with my car and cleaning him up. After I finished my detail in the garage, I loved feeling the smooth as glass, cold metal.

I dont drive the nicest car ever but I keep it clean. i feel so much better driving it when it's shiny inside and out. Really, it doesnt matter what you drive or how old it is, you feel better when it's clean.
I have an 01 civic now (was driving a 96 explorer) and I can tell you I take pride in ownership and whoever buys it off me will be happy with its condition.

Terrible analogy. I'd make a mess of that shiz.
Regarding cars. I'm with the people who use it from A to B. I bought my car, babied it a bit. It got a bit of rust. It got a bit dirty. It got worn. It started to look a little old.
I don't think I can be bothered with the annoyance of spending time on something else. Cars are a terrible expense (most of the time). Until I'm obscenely rich I can't imagine spending much money on a car cause it's just bound to rust get dirty and be worth a fraction of what you originally paid for it.
and as for the treatment my car gets. I'll wash it when it's dirty, well... dirty enough that it gets me dirty when I park at work and brush it on the way into the office and notice I'm now dirty. Or when I'm at rick of getting dirty trying to put my hockey bag in the back. The inside maybe once a year. But I don't eat in my car or throw garbage other that a coffee cup in my car. Said coffee cup would get picked up within a day as well.

If you love your vehicle don't use Armour-all products on it. Especially the interior shine which dries out and cracks your dash over time.
I don't really baby my truck aside from the mechanical side of things, always use synthetic oil and keep the exterior fairly clean. The inside could definitely use a cleaning more frequently but I just get it detailed twice a year. We just bought a new Camaro and until the lustre wears off I'm going to be meticulous about keeping it clean and shiny. Although within a week of buying it I was driving it to work in the slushy snow and salty roads we had 3 weeks ago.

I just run it through the car wash once every two weeks in the winter and once a month in the summer, oh and I wipe down and vaccum the interior in the spring, which I just did last week. I keep the inside pretty clean anyways so it's not a lot of work.

Do some of you guys seriously wash your cars like a total of 13 times all year and vacuum twice? For my taxes last year I had nearly 3K in car wash receipts.
Stuff like this is just out of my stratosphere. Hopefully no one in this thread has any white clothing.

I wash my car all the time, waiting for the rain to calm down before I clay bar, polish and wax it. Almost did it Sunday and it rained today, that would have been a piss off! Even though I have washed my car in the rain before when it rains for days and days here. People think I'm crazy but its worth it!
And I will only wash my vehicle by hand, I'd never be so lazy to take it to one of those drive thru washes. I spend a ton of time cleaning the rims too.

$3000 is like $8/day. You should take up smoking, it would be a cheaper hobby
I think you've got an undiagnosed case of OCD. Just think of the water you're using/wasting, almost puts the oilsands to shame.

I probably wash my car thoroughly.... well I can't give you a "this often" as I probably last did it 18 months ago and someone else paid for it because a dog got sick all over my car. I'd say two years ago, maybe three was the last time I thoroughly washed my car. I spray it in a coin wash maybe using $2.00 just to get the first layer of dirt off.
I bleach my whites probably every three washes.
