I have a friend that hunts. He has a trail cam set up less than 15 minutes from Calgary just off 22x. He captured a Cougar on tape in March. There are apparently quite a few Cougars that roam around the rural subdivisions of Calgary; it is just nobody really realizes they are there.

Yeah, apparantly Fish Creek gets lots of cougars. Occansionally you'll hear about a sighting, but cougars are the type of animal that you'll rarely see, even if they're near you.
So you have to think, for every sighting, there's probably so many more times that cougars are just roaming around and no one sees them.
EDIT: Actually, I think it would be really cool if the city set up a couple of those wildlife cams right in Fish Creek, below Woodbine/Canyon Meadows. I bet it would be really interesting.
