They are quite close to the city. I have an acreage in Bearspaw and moose wander through multiple times per week. We are less than 4 miles from Royal Oak.

I have a friend that hunts. He has a trail cam set up less than 15 minutes from Calgary just off 22x. He captured a Cougar on tape in March. There are apparently quite a few Cougars that roam around the rural subdivisions of Calgary; it is just nobody really realizes they are there.

My cousin's wife's brother took a few pics of one somewhere in Saskatchewan, I think.

I don't believe they shot it.

Her: I hit a moose in Banff National Park on the Trans-Canada, and am injured
Me: Sorry to hear that, but how is this the government's fault?
Her: The moose was crossing the highway where there wasn't a moose crossing sign...
So how much did you get her (or is it still in process?)?

Yeah, apparantly Fish Creek gets lots of cougars. Occansionally you'll hear about a sighting, but cougars are the type of animal that you'll rarely see, even if they're near you.

So you have to think, for every sighting, there's probably so many more times that cougars are just roaming around and no one sees them.

EDIT: Actually, I think it would be really cool if the city set up a couple of those wildlife cams right in Fish Creek, below Woodbine/Canyon Meadows. I bet it would be really interesting.

Same thing with Wolves, Cougars and Wolves are very cunning and are seldom seen.

Reminds me of the time a bear wandered into Springfield in the Simpsons. What a great episode.

Wish the quality was better on this clip

They cut just short of Wiggum's great line too. After Lou shoots the bear with the tranquilizer:

Book 'em Lou. One count of being a bear. And one count of being an
accessory to being a bear.

I wonder how long until we set up a Moose patrol. Can't have those dastardly Moose wandering around our fair city, endangering the children. Won't someone think of the children!
