I listened to Rome when he was on XTRA 690 in San Diego. His show was outstanding then. Great insights into every sport and fantastic interviews. Don't find the show nearly as engaging these days....that was about 15 years ago btw.
I remember how much attention they paid to minor NHL moves on that station. Just ate it up.

Did I miss something in the title?

Was not aware that the "title" of the post was ONLY for those that like the crap that the Jim Rome Show is....wanna know why? Cause that is not what it says.
I have read it 10 times now and every time I read it...says the same thing....
Are those that dont like it, not allowed to comment? If so, I have about 200 threads on the main page I would like to reference.

Is there any way to hear the takes besides listening to the show live?

Don't like the show either. Use the time slot to listen to music or catch up on the news around town.

Jim Rome:
As engaging, entertaining, exciting, and interesting as listening to Ed Stelmach!
.....Both turn my stomach.

I used to be a huge Rome fan, but lately, my interest is waning. The repetitiveness is getting annoying. He used to flog the dead horse just enough to be hilarious, but nowadays, it's just stale. TBQH, I think that Travis Rodgers leaving left a big hole in the show.
In the past, he seemed to focus on being a sports show with some sideshow humour that either involved a failure of a call, or else some celeb getting in trouble. Lately, it's like he's fishing for the bad calls and emails and the show is about bad humour, with some sports mixed in.
Some of that old stuff though? Gold. I still remember listening that day he concocted that adult alarm. Holy hell I laughed like a hyena.

The day 6 years ago when Jim was informed that his son was a very good soccer player was hilarious.

I was merely observing that I thought the thread title and therefore topic were pretty specific in stating that the discussion was about one day in the show not peoples opinions on the show itself. Just seemed like:
I think the results of the smack-off may not be good for the show itself. Vic is a good heel, but a year of him as the smack-off champ (let alone the proclaimed 'best smack-off ever') I think could end up a little over the top. I can see it making the show degenerate even more away from being a sports show.

Totally agree. Then again, the show's on in the early afternoon, which pretty much caters to the welfare crowd.

Are you suggesting Jim Rome is not suitable for classroom listening?

I thought Mike in Indy should have won. Great call, it made me laugh the most.
Rome is funny but he talks very little NHL or soccer, so if he is talking sports I tune out. Travis Rogers leaving the show made me stop listening daily. The emails that get on now are horrid and Kyle Brandt is a loser. So not funny.
