I think they are 4th largest by population, not economy.

The accident was not expected to directly affect the functioning of Polish government. Poland's president is commander in chief of its armed forces but the position's domestic duties are chiefly symbolic.
The prime minister, Donald Tusk, and other top government ministers were not aboard the plane.

Man, unbelievble. I live in Serbia, and their president was actually good to us. I liked him (and that's rare). Their government wanted to accept Kosovo independace but HE said no. May he rest in peace. Why couldn't my government just die in a plane crash? I know that may be a horrible thing to say, they are people after all, so from that side I'd be sad but from a political pov I'd be ecstatic. Bunch of criminals. Like seriously...criminals. Anyway, there goes my political ranting of the day.
Seriously, though, my condolonces to all that died today, may they rest in peace. Hope Poland sorts itself out but unfortunately it may take a while.
PS: to all the conspiracy people...Russia did it... Come on, it makes sense...On this day, 70 years ago, 22 000 Polish people died because of Stalin. Coinsidence? I think not.... Just kidding, Russia is cool.

In my opinion this is the problem with many in today's world. We are so cut off from others that this kind of thing does not phase them. Yes life goes on, and yes it is not the end of the world, but it is the end of their world. It is a heartbreaking tragedy for the friends, family and countrymen. We are all human, and as such we should morn such tragedy.
This DJ is part of an instant self gratifying, self indulgent, egotistical, self worth, self appreciating, self important, self nerving, self-crastinating, useless piece of work... And yes, I made up self-crasinating and I freaking love it.
Back on topic, I am interested in hearing the official story. Who will take the blame for this. What caused it, and how they will rebuild. Might create a new policy if something like this, no matter how remote, happens again.
I remember watching a CIA story on the History Channel about South America and Presidents dying on Planes because they wouldn't follow American control and CIA direction. As someone here brought up, the conspiracy theories must be on overdrive.

The plane had attempted to land three times before crashing on the fourth attempt, so really the big question is, why did the pilot even try? There was essentially zero visibility at the airfield, other planes had already decided not to land and the air control had repeatedly told them not to attempt landing.
Why the pilot kept on trying to land is unknown, but it seems like a very reckless thing to do. As reckless as having so many important people on one plane in the first place.
Finnish newspapers today hinted that a propably cause for the crash was that the president had ordered the pilots to land. Had they not landed, the president would not have been there for the occasion, at least not on time.
He had pulled such a stunt before in a similar occasion, and gotten that pilot fired when he had refused.
There's no initial reason to suspect technical failures (the plane had recently gone through complete repairs) and the pilot was very experienced.
What ever the reason, my condolances for the Polish people.

Yeah I've read the same thing, apparently the pilot did not want to land and the air control did not want them to land either. He received a direct order to land and this tragedy was the result...

If that's the case, the president is a very smart person to force the land when it wasn't safe to do so after numerous tries...
