Followed by an amazing birdie. Impressive, even for him.

Wow, it's like Seniors day at the Masters. First Watson, now Fred Couples is 4 under thru 13. Sandy Lyle also 3 under.

I've been surprised with Tiger's performance thus far. I was anticipating that he would come out flat. It's tough to come back after a long absence, especially with all the extra baggage he's carrying. I thought he would play more like he did in his first tourney after his dad's death. Playing ok, but far from exceptional. Right now, he's looking calm, even happy out there. He's playing good golf and can easily win this.

Did Tiger hit the fairway on his first shot?
It was a -120 bet either way.
First is 10-1
2-4 is 4-1
5-11 is 11-8

I think I heard that Tiger's never done better than 70 in his first round at Augusta. So he's playing to form so far.
The tsn.ca triple-screen feed has been wonderful. What an unproductive afternoon at the office.

Freddy just misses a birdie at 18, but has the clubhouse lead at 6 under. Awesome to watch........hope he continues with this play all weekend.

has made two eagles today and missed a third by a hair. He's gonna eat up the par 5's this weekend. 4 bogeys today, but he'll settle down by tomorrow.

Has been the best 1st day of the Masters in years imo. Lots of big guns at the top of the leaderboard. I was originally rooting for Els, but would love to see Couples and Watson in there.
Westwood is long overdue.

Considering all the hoopla around him it's got to be considered a pretty big success so far today. Can't say I'm surprised, but would have been understandable if he came out today and had a poor round.
You're right, if/when he settles down he'll probably take the tournament over. Still rooting for one of the vets to win.......that would be fantastic.

Choi on fire right now, 4 birdies in a row to get to 5 under.
Great leaderboard, a bit of everything sitting near the top.

Great 1st day.....man.
Watching Freddy play like that brought back some memories for sure. Best ball striker ever IMO. The Watson thing, Lee Westwood right there, Choi playing well, Els still around with a former Flame on his bag, Tiger doing what he did is simply unreal as well.
Weather forecast is for a lot more sun and heat as we move forward and that will make the course much tougher. Gonna be a beauty of a tournament when all is said and done.

Couples is 1 under so far thru 7 to have him at -7. Tiger Woods also is 1 under today and is in a group of 8 players that includes Westwood, Poulter,Watson, K.J.Choi, Ricky Barnes, and Mikkelson, as well as Y.E. Yang right now at 5 under.
Sandy Lyle who was 3 under yesterday is now 13 over today after 12.

Tiger just gave one back...Ricky Barnes is making a big move and he looks like the kind of guy that can sustain it....many have been waiting for him to break out for years.
Beautiful day in Georgia today, and the late tee times may find a lot harder course as it firms up.

Yeah, kind of wondered what happened to him recently, he seemed like years ago he would be a consistent contender on the tour. Glad to see him regain his form, I'm cheering for him to do well. I like the underdog/comeback stories in sports.

I was really impressed with tiger yesterday. I wasn't sure how he was going to play but he had his "A" game for sure. The second shot he hit into 9 yesterday was one of the best shots I have ever seen. If that would have been on the back nine on Sunday it would have been considered one of his best shots ever.
He missed a lot of putts as well. Considering he has never broken 70 in the first round until yesterday and the way he is hitting the ball I think he is going to be tough to beat.
If he wins I wonder if all 14 of his mistresses will come running onto the 18th green to congratulate him?
