The human rights complaint is a joke. But he did something wrong- he used a slur. That's not right.
You call me a fagg0t, I'll show you how wrong that is, and it won't involve a human rights complaint.

Out of curiosity did the girls make out and say the comedian hated lesbians while flipping him off and then he made his comments, or was it the other way around.
I'm curious who played the minority card first? Did the girls try to use their sexual orientation to put the comedian down in hopes that he'd bomb, if so then they deserve their fate.
Did the comedian get tired of the heckles and rip into them and then they started making out, flipped him off, and said he hated lesbians? In which case, I'm more likely to side with the girls.
It boils down to who put the sexual orientation card on the table and why.

The government needs to step in to regulate and license comedians. Just because you're center stage and have the spotlight doesn't mean you're special.

Don't try to get the best of the guy holding the microphone - I thought everyone understood comedy club rules...
There is no complaint here because there is no discrimination.
As I mentioned in the Coulter thread, Canada is much further along the road to socialist utopia than the USSR ever was.

So just to be clear- it's fine for a standup to call a bunch of hecklers who happen to be brown "Pakis," to call a bunch who happen to be black "n!ggers," and who happen to be gay "f@ggots." This instead of trying to, you know, be an ENTERTAINER who is supposed to be funny and creative and who doesn't stoop to the level of a hatemonger who finds that calling the person out for an aspect of themselves that they have no control over is a fitting comeback to "you suck as a comic"? You're going to insult me for the colour of my skin or my sexual orientation, things I cannot change, when I insult you for being a terrible entertainer?
|
Did he use slurs? I obviously wan't there and haven't read any transcript or anything, if that's out there can you point me towards it?
There's a fine line in this realm IMO, using slurs typically crosses it (I say typically because context can change whether or not certain words are really even slurs) but there are plenty of other comments that can be made based on the persons sexuality etc. that I'd consider fair in the context of an x rated comedy show.

So using "slurs" is "not right" but physically assaulting someone if they call you a name is?
Yikes.
Perhaps you should know that one of those two things is illegal and the other is not - I will let you guess which is which.

Pardy and her companions were on the patio drinking. At 11:00 pm the patio shut down and they moved inside to continue drinking.
Earle was hosting an open mic night inside.
According to Earle, Pardy and friends began making comments and causing a distraction. They were sitting in the front row, "made out" and flipped Earle the bird. That's when he let loose with his tirade.
According to Pardy, she and her friends were minding their own business. She only had a beer and a half that night. They were not causing any commotion or distraction. Earle spotted them in the front row and started hurling insults their way.
According to both parties, Pardy threw one or two drinks (or glasses of water, depending on who is telling the story) at Earle. The altercation continued later where Earle admits he pulled off Pardy's glasses and broke them in his hand.

How did the comedian know they were lesbians if they supposedly were not acting inappropriately before the rant?

This reminds me of when I was 17 minding my own business in the front row at Club 17, ironically located on 17 Ave. SW... I was talking to a friend when the stripper pulled off my glasses and put them up her.... baby tunnel. Had I been wiser, I would have gone to the Human Rights tribunal...

You know what they stay, don't stick your "stick" where you wouldn't stick your . . . glasses?
So what did the inside of her baby tunnel look like?
