Moose McGuires in the NW is pretty good.
I like the Kilt and Caber and the Coach and Horses in the deep south. I like Sams in Kensington. Potatoe nachos ftw. Is that not how you spell potatoe? Potato. Hmmmm

Pete's Penut Pub... duh. It's a CP staple.
Otherwise, I like Richmond Pub for cheap beer. Flight Club because I've had a good time there once or twice, and Jack Astors (if it counts) because my buddies and I are the only ones who are ever there. Used to Like Coach and Horses until I learned that it sucked. Used to go to Schanks for games- didn't they used to have a full menu on game nights (I'm talking 2002/03)? I miss those days... back when you actually got some small resemblance of service.

Peanuts Sports Pub at the Carriage House down on MacLeod. Best steak sandwich in town!
QR77 does live broadcasts from there quite a bit. Mostly post-game Stamps stuff, but I'm pretty sure they've even done live-game broadcasts from there too...
Anyway: http://www.carriagehouse.net/peanuts.html.

I was at Rip's the other night for the first time (The one in Crowfoot). I've seen it mentioned a few times here so I guess I'll have to give it another try but I was blown away at how crappy it was on Saturday Night.
Apparently Saturday is Kareoke Night. I'm not a guy that minds Kareoke, but the people here were so bad we eventually left the bar. One woman was so terrible the entire bar would collectively sigh, but they let her back up three times.
There was actually a guy there dressed in a cheap Suit that actually thought he was Rico Suave. He would sing boy band songs, and try to do his best boy band impression dance why going to different groups of 40 year old cougars tables. At one point I asked the bar tender if this person was all their mentally, and her response was "Unfortunetly, yes". Apparently he is there every Saturday, so if anyone here wants a good laugh and are in the area, maybe you should pop in a for drink.

Do you work there? Own it? Just a weird bar crush?

When I first moved to the southwest Flip recommended the Coach and Horses. I've eaten there probably 10 times now, each time something different and each time it's top tier. There honestly isn't a single dish I wouldn't recommend.
The NW isn't all bad. I enjoyed the Blind Monk in the far NW (deep fried sushi FTW), and the Riverstone has always been a favorite (corner of northmount and 14th).

I live nearby, so it is very handy. They gave me a preferred customer card. There are many good pubs and wine bars in Kensington, but FATS wins for convenience. I_am_Beast has his own booth there.

Original Joes in the Marda Loop on 33rd ave is a fun place, gets packed all day on weekends which sucks when you want to have a pub lunch and there's no tables
Unicorn for wings if you like spice.
Buffalo Bobs on Saturday for 30 cent wings, also has an older crowd of regulars. Ages 40+, but I've never had a bad experience there.

+1
I live in Garrison Woods and we love to head down to OJ's for delicious weekend pub food.
I also like another local pub - The Garrison.

I used to love the Sheep but they got rid of their specials, raised their prices and cut their menu in half.
Oh and they got rid of their beer bongs.

1410 is pretty good since they've renovated.....and the staff are some of the hottest looking women in the city. That being said, the place could use a few more flat screens.
I also like Beckams on center and 17th ave NW.

They have pretty lame reservation practices though. Or so I hear.

The Swan used to be great for Flames games, good food and drink specials including a pretty good pocket dog, but they really lamed it up lately.
Also, Karaoke anywhere blows always. WHY would any half decent bar have karaoke on Saturday, their busiest night?
