As weak as the above argument is, it gets better. She appears in today's Herald on the front of the City section in full color (no fellas, not in her chain mail). It's a posed picture meaning she knowingly and willingly agreed to the photo. Guess what? You're even more notorious now!
|
And did you notice the book she was holding? " Moral Philosophy".
And it was a posed picture, not just some paparazzi long lens shot...

Do you treat homeless people with the same respect that you give to an engineer for example.

Don't give me that bull. Our society today is based largely around the job which someone performs. Ultimently that leads to individuals respecting other individuals to different degrees, and in some cases it involves individuals not respect a person, or a group of people at all. Do I hate the homeless, well no. Do I avoid situations where I know I am going to be harassed for nickles and dimes? Well yeah.
I don't have an issue with her personally, but the job she performs, I would hardly qualify that as an ethical, or a respectable job.... and ultimently that does reflect upon her.

I guess I'm from the old school. I try to treat everyone the same regardless of their financial lot in life.

I know that I do. As long as my "personal space" isn't invaded, I'll treat every damn person the same. I didn't think that would be viewed as abnormal. I thought it was the pricks that didn't treat people equally were abnormal.

Listen I do give change to the homeless, and I do donate to places such as the battered womans shelters, and the mustard seed so I do care about these people. However when it comes to respect, I tend to respect individuals who have been able to make a name for themselves, and who have been able to strive to be their personal best, and have overcome the personal difficulties that they have faced. I know there are individuals who live on the street because of some pretty sad reasons, I have talked to these people before, but there are a lot of people who live on the street who are there because of an alcohol addiction, a drug addiction, and other similar problems where they have faced challenges and instead of overcoming them they have turned to substance abuse. Now in some cases I can understand it, but at the same time in a great number of cases I don't respect the person to the same degree that I respect someone who has done something with their life.... of course that is generalizing, and well there are some people who have obtained status that I don't respect for one reason or the other.

Well now you're getting into something different. Shucks, there are a ton of engineers in this business who are terrible people, and although I may have to do what they say, I don't hold them in any respect.
So if you want to differentiate between how someone got to where they are, I can totally follow you. There's a heluva difference between respecting someone because of who he is instead of what he is.

It is stories like this that make my blood boil.
Women complain about the objectification of their sex, and then one of them go out and do something extraordinarily hypocritical like this. I realize that there is some grounds for some of women's arguments (although there are for and against), but a ridiculous stunt like this...
She did make herself look like a completely clueless woman with the most hypocriticaly feminist stance I've ever seen. I just hope most other people see it that way.

I was just reading the paper version of the Herald and I'm a little confused.
There is a shot in there of a guy holding up the newspaper w/ yhe naughty bits blanked out. In the interest of science I was looking quite closely at that picture of a picture and it looks to me as though you can't even see the woman's face. Is that true?

Alright wait a second.....she wants to be respected for her brains and not her looks. Understandable really, but if you start acting like this in the MAC HALL BALLROOM where there are thousands of 20 something guys around, you expect there NOT to be a camera around. Be it from a phone or a disposable the bookstore sells. Please, you want to be respected for your brains don't go to your school and dance naked.....Common sense IMO.

That's pretty rich,
Miss. Honey Huston has stripped on multiple occasions for various stag groups I've been involved in.
Ive seen people fondled by her, fondeled her as well as all the other stag activities whipped, shootered, ect.
The term slut is probably appropriate.
We took pictures of her at the most recent one, she wasn't impressed, mentioned something about her future career which no one took seriously.
Hopefully the suit doesn't work out

As well one well known CP poster has been fondled by her, fondeled her as well as all the other stag activities whipped, shootered, ect.
The term slut is probably appropriate, personally I don't think she's very good looking although definitely tall.

I hope she gets nothing from her lawsuit and wastes a bunch of cash on route
I'll see her in May at the next stag I'm at probably.

Sorry, it certainly wasn't intended. I've edited the post to contain the appropriate "smilies" in order to change the tone.

This is very typical of the Gauntlet, and their arrogant disregard for decorum, class and professionalism... they need the book thrown at them and then some. As a member of the Senate, I intend to make sure that happens... and to think, we considered working with the Gauntlet to promote the University... yikes!

Why all the hate for the Gauntlet? I've never had a problem with it. There are plenty of bland crappy UofC publications to read, at least the Gauntlet is interesting to read.

So the Gauntlet being invited to cover this event, sponsored by you in the SU, and they're the ones lacking professionalism? Give me a break.. I can't believe I voted for you. Take some damn responsibility, the most outcry from this is the naked people walking through MacHall, and that is not the fault of the Gauntlet.
Is this city so full of prudes that you can't see a naked woman without being terrified? What are you going to do when you finally get laid, run away crying to your mom about the bad lady with the vagina? Someone tell me exactly what was wrong with the story, it was something going on at the univeristy, and it's newsworthy. Sure the picture is a little brash, but, from what I understand, the photographer was trying NOT to get a money shot.
This woman's argument is utter crap in my opinion. You work as a stripper, you decided to participate in this event AT YOUR SCHOOL, and when people recognize you, you get p*ssed? I could very well be someone in her class, go to the show, see her and say..
"Holy shinguard, that chick is in my philosophy class!" Then I go to class and tell everyone, "See that girl in the back row? She was stripping in MacHall yesterday, you should go check it out!"
Seriously..

I have to disagree somewhat.
I think there is a difference between agreeing to do something of public and agreeing to have yourself photographed and having that photograph printed in a publication.
If I'm on a beach and some guy comes up with a camera and just starts taking pictures of me I'm going to feel entitled to know what he intends to do with them, and if he says he wants to publish them I'm going to expect to have the right to either give or withhold my permission, public place or no public place.
