If I had my way I'd trade in my Murano for that A4 Avant, or an A6 Avant if I had 2 kids.
I've got an Avant I can give you...

A red 2010 A4 Avant for a 2003 Murano? DONE!

(There's a smiley so I know there's a joke but I'm completely missing it).

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Hyundai Santa Fe ... or even the Kia Borrego (if the extra horses / beefy towing capacity are important considerations). Both brands are on the rise. Both vehicles get good ratings. They may not be gorgeous, but they're both solid family SUVs for the money.

Thought I should throw it into the mix, at least.

I just puked, if you thought the X3 was ugly and disgusting, the X1 will make you want to kill yourself.

What a god awful piece of tripe. How come BMW makes 1 good looking (3 series) out of its entire range? ughh.

yeah no real joke, just have an Avant (unfortunately about 8 years older than you want) that I need to move in my garage, so I thought I'd hijack this thread to make it happen

Funny, I think the new 3ers look like generic garbage.

But what about a loaded Rav4? The new ones are huge inside, and they get great fuel economy? I cant think of another car that is as much bang for the buck, especially when you factor in resale value.

Claeren.
RAV's have brutal leg room if you're at all tall (front seats).

If you already have a CX7, why do you need another big car?

I'd also vote for an Outback. I've very much enjoyed mine. I also like they classify it as a car not an SUV/truck so insurance is less.
