.... sorry.
I'd ask flip, and see if he'd condone rape with you.

Is it still rape if there's consent?

it's not rape if you yell "SUPRISE!" first

Or, 9 months later, she shows up with a 'surprise'.

To me, the real solution is to ban all children on flights or if that's not possible then put them all in the back behind a soundproof wall so I don't have to hear them. (edit: HP seems to have beat me to it)

I would seriously pay extra for a no kids under 12 flight if such a thing existed. I've been on long haul flights where babies and toddlers have been amazingly good but I've also been on a number where the kids act up. If I could pay a little more and not have to deal with the risk of a screaming, chair kicking rugrat I would.

On topic. This seems like a silly policy and as others have said, why not swap seats with his wife?

There may have been a kid on that side, too. Or, more likely, it's because the kind of company that comes up with this kind of policy isn't exactly a flexible, common sense kind of company.

BTW... I think this is actually a very reasonable thing for an airline to do... These days and ages there are so many perverts out there... But I also think a child is as likely to be fondled by an adult women as well. But it is good they are doing this to protect children.

plus, who the hell wants to sit beside a kid for 13 hours?
I really don't think there's any more perverts now than there was 20 years ago. Is there really a problem with kids getting molested on planes? Pedophiles aren't exactly falling from the sky ... they are kind of a small community.

I'd think it's much more likely a female is going to get molested than a kid. Just as everybody else is saying, why don't we go to extreme measures to make sure guys sit with guys and girls sit with girls? Of course then we'll have to construct some sort of cage to house the gays because we all know those people with just rape everything in sight with reckless abandon.

Children should be transported in sound proof kennels. Might as well throw a lock on it and make it rape proof as well.

Hypathetically speaking what would the reaction be to a policy that singled out women in such a manor, even if there was a statistical reason backing it up?

I would have just sat there.. if the plane can't take off until he moves, fine, everyone gets to sit on the airplane forever.

Or call the police and arrest me for something I have a higher statistically chance of doing.

Sure I'd be being a jerk, but they started it.

I wonder statistically how many people who've bombed or tried to bomb an airplane are male vs. female....

Honestly, if I am paying to fly one of the most expensive carriers in the world, I am not moving. If the kid is travelling with parents make one of the parents move, or if they are travelling alone it should be up to British Airways to pre arrange for the kid to sit next to some woman before hand.

At least in North America a ticket holder has a right to sit where he paid to sit via the contract of carriage.

No way I move, dont care if I delay the plane.

Yeah but what if its a muslim male? Now we have someone who is going to fondle all the kids on the plane before he blows them up!

I thought most of the sexual abuse on children is done by members of the family? It's probably safer having them sit by a stranger than by uncle lester.

OK if someone is of middle eastern descent are they asked after sitting on the plane to please move to a different spot that will cause less damage when they set off an explosive? No they are allowed to sit where they were assigned, with their family.
Also who said that anyone is OK with racial profiling. I am sure if someone was treated differently on a flight because of their skin the media would be all over it, it would be blown way out of proportion.
