Parking where I work is $15 a day. 21 days a month that is $315. In rush hour it takes me about 50 minutes to get from my house to work, if it is cold add another 10 minutes to warm up the car etc. I don't drive enough to know for sure what it costs but add in gas of $2-5 a day and you are approaching $400
Bus pass is going to $83? a month. While traveling by bus to train, it takes me 1 hour + less than 15 minutes total walking. With the new BRT, it takes an hour including walking time. When I am on the bus, I can read, sleep, watch a movie and I get a little exercise walking to and from.
That saves me over $300 a month (actually more, since I have a U-pass, but not everyone does). If you MUST drive to the station, you need to factor in $60 bucks for parking, so you only save $250 to sit in rush our vs sleeping/reading/relaxing on the bus.
Its your time and money. Spend it how you want I guess.
