People are pompous because they don't like Richards? I've listened to him a handful of times and I've yet to laugh. The only things I've ever heard from him that are funny came in those two minute promo commercials I hear during Rome or in the afternoon. But more than half of those two minute bits I hear make me switch to music for a bit. So I guess he is funny sometimes, just not consistently. But I suppose that there may be an angle that I'm not getting. Sorta the way you either hate Rome or you like him. You've got to get the humour and the inside jokes. Maybe that's why I really don't care for Richards?
And I agree with trout, Gerry Forbes is NOT funny. At all.

Reread the thread. Where were you attacked? Someone posted that they didn't find Richards funny (not you) and you took that personally and went off in a barrage of insults.

My face is a bum!

I haven't been listening much in the last year now that I don't drive to work, but Richards was fairly hilarious this morning when I was half awake and hearing him make fun of Tiger Woods.

I guess im the middle. I will listen to sports talk about CFL, NHL, NLL or olympics. but if its NFL, NBA, MLB, rodeo, motorsports etc I will switch to music. They talk alot of hockey, so its nice to have a little variety talking about Calgary's other Major sports teams (Stamps and Roughnecks)

That sucks about Rowe leaving. I liked him at 1pm, he did that for about two weeks and then that chick left, so he ended up on the morning show as a third wheel.

Rowe was a good solider.
Did he get to call the Vanier Cup after doing all the Dino games leading up to the final?

Hey, Republicans have been running successfully on that type of logic for years now, so I'm not surprised to see other people use it.
I listen to Mike Richards every morning on the way to work, and outside of the cheesy song parodies, I think it's fairly solid program. I'm lucky enough that my 20 minute bus ride is exactly the same time Pierre McGuire comes on, which I always find really entertaining and informative. I like that they focus on the Flames and the Stamps...with a little bit of NFL, other sports if it warrants it. I really don't want to hear much about amateur sports, curling etc...
I really do dislike the parodies though. I love farts (just ask my girlfriend!) and stupid humor....but the problem is that it's not very good. I don't care if it's stupid, bit if it's not funny, then it just becomes grating.
Mike Richards - parodies = good time

I don't mind Richards in small amounts every morning, when I was working early enough to actually listen to a good portion of the show I couldn't stand it. Now that I only catch a half an hour or so in my morning routine, so I enjoy it. I'm glad they fired Kirkwood, he was awful and really brought the show down in my opinion. He didn't have any sports knowledge, other than golf.

I believe Rowe left in the week before the Vanier.
There was a rumour of a schism when the Uteck Bowl was pre-empted by the Flames/Kings game, but I have no idea if that is the reason he left.

During the some coverage about the Uteck, Rowe was talking about how he was really upset about not being able to do the Vanier as he was going to be working on the Grey Cup instead. Sounded pretty choked up about it as he had a strong bond with the team.

I didn't listen to Fan's Grey Cup stuff. What did they have Dave doing?

Count me in with the "Richards isn't funny group". I suppose he was funny five years or so ago when he first got here but I find the schtick tiring. I'd rather listen to ESPN or CP Radio podcasts on my way in to work.

Now that you mention it, I tried listening to the GC on the fan and they had some random crap ESPN show on, the grey cup was on another station (QR77) and I don't even think that Rowe was covering that.
So I have no idea what he was talking about.

What a nerd.
Good riddance to Dave Rowe, and his lame act. Motorsports Monday was the worst waste of radio EVAR, well, besides the ghey wrestling show. At least the wrasslin' was buried on Sunday nights, though.
I'm in the 'not funny' camp with Richards. Maybe he'll get choked and leave now that his buddy Kirkwood is gone. Has he even moved here full time yet? Seems to me I remember hearing his wife stayed in toronto when he came out here. Less fart, more sports, Mike makes for entertainment...NO POP CULTURE CRAP!, for a win.
