We are going for a firm dinner this year @ J Village - should be ok.
Best X-Mas party... I would have to say was 5 years ago, when a coworker and her best friend continued the party at my house...

We had ours at the Ranche. They always throw a good party. Excelent food and whatever you want to drink. Won a door prize this year too.

This happened to friend of mine in the mid 90's. The head office of the company she worked for was in Los Angeles, and they had an office in Calgary with about 20 employees. The owner flew all of the employees from Calgary to LA, and chartered a boat from LA to mansion in the Catalina Island for a weekend as their Xmas party.

I attend staff parties extremely rarely. Mainly because I always find 'em to be a no-win situation: everyone's afraid to cut loose because they're afraid of offending any higher-ups in the room, and if you do give in and have fun (read: get loaded) you risk accusations of being irresponsible. Besides, I spend enough time with the people I work with when I'm working. Better to spend my off-time with people I genuinely like.

My wife's company throws pretty decent Christmas parties. We have done the Yacht tour around Burrard inlet/Howe Sound. Very well catered turrkey dinner and all you can drink. The bus would drop you off some place central for a quick cab ride home.

We did a great little restaurant in White Rock (can't remember the name) that included a murder mystery game, loads of fun.

This year they have rented out Laff Lines in NW. Should be fun but I am missing out on one of my hockey games for this so it better be damn good.

My work? Some appies and few drinks. Like I want to come all the way back downtown to work on a day off for some appies!

Due to budget cuts, our employee holiday party will be held onsite this year...at the juvenile detention facility, with the juvenile offenders & prison food. No booze this year (unless some enterprising kid had the forsight to brew up some wine in the toilet). I guess I'll go just because it's such a unique opportunity for great stories in the future.
