Luckily, the wife doesn't know much about technology. "Sorry babe - Oprah network will cost more. If I can't have NHL network, you can't have OprahNet. I think it's like $29.99 a month....."

Sadly, I'm not. The worst is when I'm in reading in the other room and she's watching the show; then it ends and she comes bounding into the room to tell me what happened. I don't know how many times I've said it or just given the "I don't give a crap" stare, but it never works. Are women immune to those words and that stare?

They are as immune to it as men are when they try and tell you what stupid crap they did with their buddies or what some stupid football player did in some stupid football game, etc. When someone wants to talk your ear off, they ain't looking at you for the "Piss off" stare, cause they don't care. One way or the other, man or woman, you are hearing their stupid story.
God, I hate The Hills. My sister in law is an intelligent woman. She's a partner in an accounting firm, dammit. She should know better. Honestly, I wept for her after watching that show.

This thread gave me the only 10 seconds of my life that I even considered Oprah being off television, it was nice.
now I'm wondering if she will ever die, and further, even attempting to imagine what kind of grotesque macabre her funeral will be, is very unsettling.
It'll be micheal jackson times a billion. i still think it's 50/50 that she'll outlive me, so.... fingers crossed.

Yeah, I've never understood that. I have a buddy at work who is apparently part of a Queens of the Stone Age/Radiohead cover band. I use the term "band" only because he does, but it's really a bunch of dudes who get together at each others' houses and play covers. I'm subjected to hearing every detail of their jam sessions everytime I ask him about his weekend. I've even tried to stop doing that but he still finds a way to stick it in to any conversation.
I don't even bother trying to talk football with my girlfriend. I'll go into detail when my mom asks because she is loosely interested for my sake, but that's about it.

Like I said, I've never watched a single episode of Oprah, so you will have to explain. From what I can find on the net, she invited someone on the show that was against vaccines. Is that it, or did she personally come out against vaccines somewhere?

She implied heavily along with Jenny McCarthy that Children shouldn't be given vaccines because of a heavy risk of autism. They unnecessarily worried the entire Nation.

Hey, I think we can all agree that Audriana from the HILLS is H.O.T - wow. What celebrity would go after anyone else when you could have that - simply amazing.
As much as I dislike Oprah's Liberalism, she has done more good with her show than any other talk show on the air. Also remember, with out her show some people might still think Tom Cruise isnt a complete nutbar.

It goes way beyond vaccines - Oprah has a long history of promoting dubious medical practices and medical scams (disclaimer: this is second-hand info - I've never actually watched her show myself). If she goes off the air this will be bad for the business of a lot of snake oil salesmen.

So when she comes bounding into the room and starts blathering, you stare at her nod your head like your listening and then slowly pull down your zipper and pull your junk out.
One of two results is going to happen, and they're probably both good.

I heard on the radio the other day that her network is going to be called OWN. It's like a combination of ######, estrogen and ######.

The other day, I saw a clip of Oprah interviewing Sarah Palin.
Boy oh boy.... is Oprah ever fat these days.... Sarah Palin still looked hot as ever though.

My theory is that Oprah gets really thin, then gets really really fat, and then thin again to sell more diet plans. She's done it so many times I've lost count.

I'll miss her January episodes where she announces that "this is the year to lose weight" and motivates everyone with her weight loss challenges - of course by December she has packed on another 10lbs and has another brilliant excuse.
