I gave you $25. I would very much like to see the Tories get trounced, almost as much as I don't want the Liberals or NDP to come anywhere near power - so, you are in luck.

Has WAP even nominated candidates for any ridings yet?
PCs need to sack Stelmach yesterday.

No we have not, and I'll tell you why.
We want to ensure that our Constituency Associations are active and effective so that we can get the best possible candidates in each riding, and ensure that they have a strong support system. We don't want to just put in whoever is willing; we need to prepare for the possibility that some of these people will become cabinet members.
We have approximately half of our CAs running now, the rest will be done in the new year.
Thank you to those who have joined and donated! We've got a long way to go still and we need and appreciate your help!

This shows the poll is more anti-PC than pro-WAP. Voters are not in love with (or even aware of) WAP policies, and don't know who the candidates will be.

If the WAP gets in can they please kill electricity deregulation?
Hey Firefly, if you ever have any questions on it let me know. It's been a while, but I used to know the market set up inside and out. Dunno if it's still an issue, but it's been a pet peeve of mine for a while.

The comments at the bottom of the herald article are hilarious. Reminds me of the troops with guns on our street warnings from the federal liberals a few years back.

Not the candidates but they know who the Premier would be, and Danielle is phenomenal. Dynamic, engaging, intelligent, well-versed; everything Ed Stelmach is not.

Is there any anticipation of Conservative MLAs jumping ship? Maybe not right away, but when polls and public opinion suggest a strong WRA following in their ridings, could some jump ship to keep themselves in the Legislature? It wouldn't be that big of a jump really. Going from the so called right wing conservatives that are drifting left, to the real right wing party.

The reality is that if anyone did jump ship there would be serious repercussions for them prior to the next election. Also, the party needs to ask if we want said ship jumpers...

Stelmach also isn't a former special interest group employee or school board trustee who got fired after one year.
Fact is that while this poll shows good things for the WRA it still is 2 years out from the probable election. At one point Decore had the Liberals at about 40% and the Tories still managed to come back. Smith and the WRA has faced basically zero real scrutiny and have almost no policies to criticize. Once they face that scrutiny and release some actual policy a lot of that support could melt away.
If the green party were to re-register I think that bleeds away support from the WRA. I realise the whole left/right issue that most people will say makes no sense...but this is a protest vote. People were voting green in fairly large numbers and my suspicion is that they are now polling for the WRA. Frankly had there been a green candidate in the Glenmore by-election I think that the WRA loses that riding as well...but obviously we'll never know.

We certainly don't think we've got this in the bag. It is two years to an election and this is just a snapshot in time. We recognize that.
Danielle has come out repeatedly against carbon capture and pretty much anything they want to hammer out in Copenhagen. I don't believe that we would bleed a lot of green support if the party suddenly reappeared. That said, I also don't think they'll reappear before the next election.
Aren't farmers a special interest group? I coulda sworn...

Everyone's in some sort of SIG.
Stelmach needs to leave sooner than later. Like, yesterday. It's going to take at least a year to unravel all the idiocy and non-action he's done.
However, the PCs have no one to replace him with. Such is their inbreeding that they've exhausted their gene pool.

I'm still shocked the PC's gave him a vote of confidence only a couple months ago.

True, but if it puts WRA butts in the legislature I think they take it. Like you said, the recent poll results are not an indication of a slam dunk for the WRA. The likely scenario is the WRA forming the official opposition in the next Legislature. Having well established (in their ridings) Conservative MLAs walking across the floor could only strengthen the party. Assuming that the Conservative MLAs in question have the same political beliefs and values as the WRA. Which would not be a tough sell considering the WRA is selling itself as the real right wing party. Or what the Conservatives used to be.

I'm no political expert but I have a question for those that are.
Let's say the PC's replace Ed with a strong right wing leader like Ted Morton. Would this be enough to save the Tories if an election was held in spring of 2010?
